A new YT baby arrives!!! I was just bragging----uh....TELLING a YT friend all about it, and figured, heck, I may as well post on the board. I've been hanging around here for months just soaking stuff up like a sponge, but haven't ever really gotten up to what I would consider full posting speed. Well, what better time to start....our new puppy has been with us for two days now!!! She's soooo sweet, and we're having soooo much fun with her. She actually would have been my LAST choice out of the litter, b/c of her unusual head/face markings (from birth she had a lot of coppery hair on the top of her head, and her face looks very silvery compared to the rest of her body, now!). I mean, she's adorable, but I just thought the other ones were cuter. So it was a hard decision, but I chose her based on the breeder's recommendation....we'd been in contact for a long time, long enough for her to get to "know" me and my family, and she knew what I was looking for in the way of a spunky/lovey little dog. And she thought this one was the most affectionate and (sometimes!!!) laidback of the litter (as laidback as a yorkie can be! ) She is what I guess you'd call a "hobby" breeder (??), but one reason why I chose her was because she and her family love and enjoy ALL their dogs so much, and seem to have great insight into their individual personalities and quirks. They work hard at socializing all their pups, but this one was just her special cuddle buddy. She was really happy about me choosing her, although she later told me that if I hadn't, she would have kept her for herself. I was prepared for her to miss her old family (human, and canine) for awhile, but she adjusted to us SO fast. She's nuts about my husband already, and goes into a licking and wiggling fit when she hears his voice....she loves me to wrap her up in a cozy fleece blanket and cuddle her when she gets sleepy...and my animal-loving six year old is in heaven. But it's my ten year old I've really been surprised at! He has NEVER been a cuddley/huggy/kissy type, is a bit of a germaphobe, and animals make him antsy. He loves our big lab, but she's not even ALLOWED in his room (by him)! He's done NOTHING but gripe and grump about me getting this little "rat dog", even when we went to see them. And then, as soon as I brought her home, he just fell hard! He just keeps saying, "She really IS cute! I didn't think she would be....and I don't even know what's so cute about her...she just IS!" He plays with her forever, and insists on her going to bed with him for awhile at night, and just because of how he is, it is no small marvel to me to see them both asleep with her cuddled up under his chin! He's smitten! Transformed by the power of yorkie irresistibility! So, yes....it's all going good! Easier than I dared hope! She wasn't in a crate at the breeder's, but she took right to hers here, and sleeps in it all night without a peep. She really likes it, actually, and voluntarily goes and hops in it to take her naps sometimes. The breeder had worked with them on the piddle pads, and she tee-tees on it MOST of the time. The poops, well, we're still working on that! OH, and, today we experimented with putting her hair up in a little twiggy tail , and putting on a little outfit and harness, and she did just fine with all of it! WOO HOO! I done got my baby girl to play dress up with! I can tell she's going to be a great part of our family, as well as fulfilling my lifelong dream of owning a yorkie. So indulge me in welcoming my new baby, KRICKET (Kiki)! (pictures to come soon, but for now, you may admire her in my avatar! )

Congrats! Your 10yr old sounds like my 34yr old (BF). He did not want a dog at all and "swore" we would never get one. That we were "cat" ppl. (We have 3!). I begged and pleaded and begged some more and after almost 3 years, we finally got our Yorkie Bella. I soooooo worried that he wouldn't bond w/her and find her a nusiance but boy was I wrong! He adores her and sometimes acts jealous when she runs from him to me or my 8yr old daughter.

Hi Kricket! Welcome to your forever home! It's awesome when you find a good breeder that just loves Yorkies and has a family full of love for them. It really does make a difference in how Yorkies adjust and how well-socialized they may be. Your ten year old is so sweet, I'm glad he's warmed up to Kiki so fast like that. Yorkies steal hearts. Kiki will love her new home, look forward to seeing a lot more of her around!
