Eating Pee Pee Pads! Help! Preston has gotten in the most horrible habit...eating his pee pee pads! I don't know what to do because otherwise he'll be peeing all over the house and office! I'm worried because they could be toxic. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice?

It's called........ THE PUPPY STAGES! LOL Not to make light of it but most babies go through it! I hate the puppy stages because of this but it's part of learning. I got the plastic hold pads to lock the pads in place. You can buy that in any petstore. It helps most of the time unless you have a smart aleck who will figure out how to dig it out. Do not encourage it and I just clean it up and not give any attention.... then at another time I will sit there and play with their toys and give them all my loving attention. They will figure out it is not proper behavior...... in time! LOL Just grit your teeth and be patient!

I've tried using the pee wee pad holder that comes in sections and it has not worked. The puppy just pulls and tears at it until he gets it out, and when I come home from work, there is a huge mess: pee, poop and torn pad and stuffing. Someone online suggested a holder from Drs. Forster and Smith that holds the pad more securely. Our breeder suggested putting newspaper under the pad and holder. For some reason, this has worked with her puppy--the one she kept from the litter our puppy came from. If you are concerned about toxicity, you could just use black and white newspaper alone or tuck it into a pee wee pad holder. If I figure it out, I'll be sure to post.

My pup used his pee pads occasionally when he was just a little pup -- but that soon changed. Before long, he decided they were toys (this probably happened when he was teething), and he started ripping them up into a million pieces - and quit peeing on them ever. So ----- we go outside to pee now - and he wears belly band (occasionally). Carol Jean
