| my whining yorkie I have a question about my yorkie Jack. He whines all the time normally when he is in the car, and I am about to get out to put a ticket on the car, even if my girlfriend is still in the car. Also in the mornings he does it alot when he wants to get into bed, I wouldnt be bothered by this but it is becoming very distracting when I am driving, does any have any suggestions. thanks Tony |

| Preston use to whine in the car too... I take him to work with me everyday. He's gotten better but I keep him in his doggie bag on the ride to and from work so that he doesn't hurt himself of distract me while I'm driving. Some times his whines are so bad it sounds like someone is killing him!!! It drives us nuts sometimes... |

| Have you tried getting him a carseat? That way he is strapped in and he can't jump around and make it unsafe for you to drive, and he will probably whine whine whine till he can't whine no more. But the more you give into the whine's the worse it will get. You just have to ignore it, turn your music up, and no talking. I had to do that with Coco and she stopped after a couple of weeks. Once she understood that by crying she won't get her way, she stopped.

| I have one whiner (Rexy 3 1/2 mo) and one non-whiner (Rowdy 14 mo). I would suggest, if possible, to get him a console car seat (if your car has a console) that way, he can be right beside you, up by your face in the car. Rowdy is not a whiner, but he wants to be right next to me with his head on my arm or shoulder, at times. Having Jack right beside you in the car may help the whining. Also, if he can't see out of the car to see where he is, he may be scared and that may contribute to the whining so a booster car seat may solve the problem. Something else that may help is to give him is favorite chew toy in the car so that he is occupied. I have a car full of the favorite chew toys. He may be slightly car sick and that may be why he whines in the car. Whining in the house is to get his way and I'm a softee so I have no advice about that.

| I have a car harness, I will just put him in that on the back seat and turn the radio up. On long journeys he gives up and falls asleep, but for short ones its a pain. |

| Yorkies can be "vocal" -- can't they? I can't think of anything to stop this. I think it's just their way to communicate with us. Carol Jean |

| Just google pet console carseat and you should find lots of them. I think that tinkerbellcloset.com (Shantink here on YT) has them for sale on her site. Oh and there is a discount for YT members! The one I have is the Console Lookout. Be sure to get the measurements though, as they do come in different sizes and some are too big for the consoles. Mine is 12 inches wide which is actually too wide for my hubby's mini truck and it fits very snugley onto my Impala's console - but because it is made of foam, I just squeeze it between the seats and it works fine!

| I would get a carseat so Jack can look out the window. Princess didn't like car rides until I got her one. Now she loves them. And it keeps them safe too

| Whining My yorkie, 7 months, just started whining out of nowhere when I had her in the car with me. I've had her for 1 month and she has not done this. I immediately thought something was wrong. I stopped on the side of the road, thinking she had to go to the bathroom. She did, which subsided the whining for many hours, until she got home, and did it some more, inside the house. Any body have this same issue? I'm thinking she'll have to see the vet if it continues. Thanks. |

| My pek used to cry nonstop when I put her in the car. I only put her in the car when we had to go to the vet...so she knew. I even recorded her because my neighbor didn't believe me. She would be excited to get in the car, but as soon as we started to move...cry, cry, cry. I had her leash tied to the seat, but she tried as hard as can be to get to me. Last year I purchased a car seat for her and Ally. She can't get to me, but is right there in my face at my level. Ally likes to look out the window and my pek stares at me (she's blind and really can't see). No crying any more though and it is much safer for her. |

| My Yorkie whines also, but I have found if I crack a window, he stops. I am wondering if being closed up in the car hurts their sensitive ears, like some people in an airplane. |
