| cottony coat what is cottony coat. i thought all yorkies had silky long hair. and how can you tell if your yorkie at 4 months old is cottony or silky. i know his parents were silky, but that probably doesn't matter. |

| i also have doubts...i will tell you only how my dogs coat looks like, and in my opinion it is silky. His hair is fine (compared to human hair) but feels very silky if you run your hands thru it, doesn;t matt a lot and it very easy to brush. I know that puppies will have a different coat, but i didn;t really see that in Mojo since i got him when he was almost 6 months. There is the flashlight trick, that our breeders taught us but i donnou if it would work on a puppy. If his parents are silky i think he will probably be also silky...lets see what the experts think about it P.S: Loooooooooove the picture..he looks so cute in his shirt "posing" for the picture |

| I believe these are two good examples of cotton and silk. I have a link on my website that explains the coats, its worth a read. I found the first one on a petforsale ad the coat appears to have more like a cotton candy appearance doesnt lay smooth. The other is from ytca. both are 1+ old I hope the pics show up enough to see the difference. Maybe someone else has pics available that would show better.
