| Big Decision - Need Your Experience, Please Our Mitzi is 9 years old and not nice with other dogs. In fact she tries to bite the nose on any other dog coming close enough. She never had the opportunity to meet other dogs her size and we are just to worried to let her play with big dogs. Now we are thinking about to get a second Yorkie, a baby of course. What is your experience / advice? To get one or not to get one? I would love to have a second furbaby since I missed the first four years of Mitzis life. (I met her dad when she was four and she was actually the main reason why I married him. But that's another story, very romantic, though.) Please help me to make a decision. Thank you all! YT is really a great thing and I'm happy to have found it! or ? |

| Can you set up a playdate? I am thinking there has to be SOMEONE near you that you can set up a playdate with to see how Mitzi will be with another yorkie. I would try a full grown adult, not a baby to start. You could even put up a new thread that says: "I NEED TO BORROW YOUR YORKIE! Anyone live near me?" And in the message explain what you need! Good luck! If you CAN get a baby, you eill enjoy it SO MUCH!!!

| This is just my opinion... and my past experience as well. I had a pomeranian for many years.... she was an only pet child and was a darling to all the family members but she didn't like new comers or other dogs. My sister brought home a shihtzu puppy and we tried to get them to get along. They seemed to do OK for the first year.... but down the road..... we spent thousands in vet bills. My pom took out her eye once and we had to have surgery to repair it..... that was the worst incident. Both lived with us till a ripe old age but it was years of watching and nervousness. I wouldn't give up my baby and my sister loved hers as well. This was when we were both teenagers and living with mom so we made it work. But in your case, I would not bring a new baby into the picture now. You pretty much know she will not approve. At 9 years old, she is set in her ways and will not think a new puppy is cute. I say, enjoy her for as long as you have her. |
