| Moving in with a cat? In exactly one week i will be moving in with a new roomie and her cat... and another cat from a friend who can't keep hers for the summer due to her dads allegies. My little boy has never lived or even met a cat so i was wondering if anyone had any advice for me on this situation? My room will be his sactuary from both cats but any advice to make the transition easier for us all? Thanks in advance!!!! |

| Cat House How old is your boy? My boy came to a cat home as a puppy. He lays right next to Sugar, my female cat. My Male cat doesn't like him but he tolerates him. Petey doesn't bark or bother the cats at all. My parents dogs on the other hand go after the cats any chance they can get. But, I do think it's funny that if the cat doesn't back down, the yorkies are left standing there wondering "what do I do now, he didn't run away?" Hopefully yours will at least tolerate them. Just don't let him chase and bark at them, he'll adjust eventually. Good luck. Kimberly

| Titus is 6 months, and getting nuetered tommorrow! So he's not totally set in his way, and has never met a cat before and really friendly with dogs so hopfully it'll be ok, i'm mostly worried about him eating the cat litter and anywhere the cat could fit the little dog could probly get easier so a little lost on that point as well. Those of you with both how do you handle that situation? |

| Cat House Keep the cat litter box in a room he can't get to. Gate the door so the cats can get in and he can't. I know it's gross, but cat Poop is like a treat to a dog. I've read where no dog can resist it. And before I moved my litter box, I found Petey getting his own snacks when I wasn't looking The cats will want a room they can go and get away from the dog anyway. He is probably young enough you won't have too much trouble for him adjusting. Just be dilligent in NOT letting him chase and bark after the cats. Once he see's them run for their lives, it's a fun game Both of my cats are declawed and fixed. They are both bigger then Petey too. Almost double the weight. He won't chase them unless my mom's dogs are with him for "Back-Up" Kim

| We brought Bella home at 3mths and introduced her to our 3 cats. I think they were more afraid of her, then she of them. Now her and our 16lb fat cat are best friends and run around all day long chasing each other and nibbling each others ears. It's so cute... As for the other two cats, they pretty much don't want anything to do w/her and avoid her at all costs. She'll try to initiate play w/them, but they'll hiss at her and she gets the point. Good luck! I think they'll do fine. Our cats that don't want anything to do w/her jump onto things she can't to get away. As for the litter box, we have a top loader. The cats go in through a hole at the top and it's pretty big/tall so Bella can't get into it, or tip it over. |

| Some breeds get along especially well with cats -- but don't worry anyway. A cat can easily keep out of a dog's way -- and most dogs learn quickly that a cat is not something to toy with. They will all work it out between themselves. Carol Jean |
