| Long or short? Its been very hot here today and i was wondering how everyone yorkies get on with the heat? Pippa's hair is medium length and im thinking she must be real uncomfortable in the heat! Would it be better for her to have a short puppy cut for summer? I love her hair at the moment but i dont want her to be uncomfortable

| I get Bailey cut short in the summer, I can tell as soon as it gets hot, he doesn't wanna go out,and when he does, he doesn't play as much, and trys to find a shady spot.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Ramsey already acts like she's very hot and her puppy fur's not very long. She will be getting a trim. I used to keep Trace's hair short in the summer. I liked his puppy cut, and it grew out fairly quickly.

| Sebi and Sweet Pea will be going in next week for their summer cuts. Sweet Pea has never been had short hair she is very skinny and her hair is very thin, but I think we will give it a try. |

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | Both of our girls have medium length hair...we are trying to grow it out!! It gets very hot around here, but we just limit the amount of time the girls spend outside, they don't go out during the heat of the day!! They don't seem to be uncomfortable so far...and when they do get really hot, we give them so ice cubes to chew on and cool down!!

| Mitzi gets always a "buzz-cut" in summer time. We did it last week. At night or when the days are cooler she wears a sweater. |

| I’ve been thinking about getting Ginger a schnauzer cut on the body and leaving the face Yorkie, for the summer. The only thing holding me back is how long it took her hair to get to the length it’s at. She’s a cotton coat Yorkie, so it has taken her whole life (one year…with the exception of trims) to get to the length it is.

| Seems like a dog with a shorter coat would be more comfortable in the heat of the summer --- but a dog's hair insulates them from the heat as much as it does from the cold. If a dog has long or thick hair - the heat doesn't reach their skin or bother them as much as it does a dog with a short coat. Carol Jean |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Gracie and London have the longer coats. Rebel's is very short but that's because he pees on his hair! Anyway, I think that as long as they aren't spending a great amount of time outside in the heat, they should be okay. I have my doggy door and my kids come in and stay in when it's hot outside.

| I love my baby nude! I have one hairy baby and one NUDE baby . DOugal's much happier nude. It's early winter here and he still prefers to be a naked doggy! Maybe this summer I'll get evil wee a short hair do - but she feels the cold unlike the Dougalicious dougalvator. Here are the obligatory pics of my babies , the first is nudey dougal http://www.yorkietalk.com/gallery/sh...0&ppuser=10026 This one is hairy evil Wee http://www.yorkietalk.com/gallery/sh...0&ppuser=10026
