| Please be patient with me... I have been very frustrated finding Zoe a vet to get him neutered. I've been to over 4 vets for a "check up" to feel them out and I haven't found one I liked yet. I'm going to another one on the 12th and am crossing my fingers that he is good. I have a few questions that I hope ya'll can help me with. 1. I wanted laser surgery but this vet does not perform laser, does the regular surgeries heal quickly? 2. Is over 7 months too old? 3. is 260.00 too expensive? 4. How long will Zoe be in pain after the surgery? My heart is aching knowing I have to neuter him. Please help. thank you!

Neutering him will bother YOU more than it does him. Good luck and try not to worry to much.....

Sorry can't answer most of your questions..I guess prices would depend on where you live. You might ask if there is a spay/neuter day ..some states have these. I do think males bounce back faster then females. The female I had spayed was back to herself in a few days. It's best to get male done before they start to mark..I don't think 7 month is to old. Maybe someone who had their male fixed can tell you more...good luck to you. | |

| Peanut got neutered on April 11,2006.He is 7months. 260.00 is about right for nuetering. That is the Surgery and Labs. The Labs are a MUST! You dont want to lose your baby because of a blood disorder. Find a Vet that kepts them over night after surgery. Also have them put a collar on Zoe because of Licking problems. We had to go back because of this. Peanut had no pain Medicine. He was OK when we brought him Home. Good Luck finding a Vet. Hugs and Kisses from My two Boys Peanut(7months) and Thumper(13weeks).

| Most offices have set prices for neuters so you could give some a call and find out the rate in your area. Make sure your vet uses isoflurane or sevoflurane gas. It is more expensive, but a lot safer. Have the preop blood tests performed. I'm a little concerned about how many times you've been to the a vet's office. Always hold your dog and never let him on the floor. A vet's office is a very unhealthy environment. Although my vet's office looks very clean, I usually wait outside and have them call me on my cell phone when it's our turn. I know this sounds a little paranoid, but there are more sick dogs and viruses in a vet's office than anywhere else. |
