| Harness troubles! I have a step in harness for Emmy when taking her out for walks and potty and such. But whenever she sees me pick it up to put it on her she FLIPS out, runs the other way and it is a game of chase to finally get it, then putting the thing on is a FIGHT. Once it is on and we are outside, she runs around does her business and we're ok. The minute I open the front door she stops dead in her tracks and will not move until I take it off. I take it off and she is fine. I am so sick of fighting with her to get it on, that I have tried to leave it on her for the day. She rubs her back on EVERYTHING and then just lays there and will not move! She acts like she is dying when the thing is on(same with clothes and bows! ) I don't understand the problem and if anyone has suggestions on what I can do to help I would appreciate it!!! -Ashley & Emmy |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | I would give her time. I had a step in harness for Gracie. As she got older, she was actually excited when I had it in my hand and would stand there and let me put her legs in it to snap. With pups, everything takes some getting use to!

| Baby fights when I put anything on her...collar, harness, dress, coat. She also rubs to get everything off, but I learned that if she fights, and you stop, she wins. And dogs aren't supposed to "win." So, I "fight" her back until whatever I have to put on her is on. Good luck!

| My 3 year old beagle, Copper was the same way, I'm not even sure, looking back, when it was that he started prancing and dancing when every time he saw the harness, but now he does. Bailey is 5 months, he literally hated having anything on him at all, harness, clothes, collar, you name it....at 5 months , he is a lot better then he used to be, he doesn't run to get it on, but at least now he sits still while it is put on and goes straight to the door, wagging his tail.....We only use a collar for the tags, and it seemed like that was the thing that bothered him the most, so we took a few days leaving it on a little longer each time., so that now, he doesn't mind it either. Hang in there, they seem to realize that the harness means , "out, walk, wee funn.." , over night. Good luck.

| Gucci fights me a bit when I put her harness on and off. She is OK while it is on. What I do is carry her and pet her trying to make her comfortable. Good luck. |

| Thanks so much for the advice!! I've become sneaky with it now, and lay it on the ground while I have her in hand to I just need to slip it on quick and snap it. She is getting a LITTLE bit better, but I'm sure it just takes time. Now if I can only get her to wear bows and clothes we'd be good!!! :-) I don't know what her deal is but as soon as you put the t-shirt on, she turns completely limp and doesn't move...I guess it's one issue at a time!!! haha -Ashley & Emmy |
