| Dry Skin I've noticed that Emmy has been itching ans scratching a lot recently. No fleas or anything of that sort, but I notice that her skin is looking dry! We use a hypoallergenic puppy shampoo once a week when she gets a bath and a little bit of Panteen Pro V conditioner (as told by the breeder to keep her suppppppeeerrr soft). I'm wondering if it's the conditioner that's drying her out, or what? Any suggestions on shampoos or any remedies on dry skin?! Thanks! -Ashley & Emmy |

| I use Missing Link. It is good for the skin and the coat. I get it at Petsmart.

| I was told not to use "our" shampoos/conditioners because the ph balance of us and our pets are different. Don't know if this is true or not... |

| Have you recently changed her food or added something new to her diet? Could be allergies.....

| Nope. I had changed her food over about 2 months ago, but I had just started noticing this recently. I think the next bath I give her I'm going to hold off on the conditioner and see if maybe that's it. |

| My little one has dry skin as well. However, I bought a hypoallergetic shampoo at the vet. I am not sure of the name as it is at home and i am not. But, it helped my Capone out greatly. (it is soap free) Also, they have vitamin drops you can ask for from your vet that do wonders for the coat as well. He has a pretty shiny coat now. He only gets a little flaky when he goes to the groomers and they use a different shampoo on him. Also, Brushing helps ALOT! It helps the skin produse more oils and stimulates it. My groomer told me this...I did not believe him but I tried brushing him everyday for a week and what a difference! Hope this helps for you it helped for us. |

| Emmy I noticed you are in FLorida also... just took my Emee to the vet today for her skin...there is nothing on it, no red marks or bites..no sores, but she was biting her butt and scratching..the skin isn't even dry, but I got special shampoo/conditioner for her skin...I swear these Yorkies make me nuts..the vet could not find a thing on her skin...white and healthy as a babies butt. Nothing in her ears..no worms or mites either...sometimes I think they do this to me because they can. LOL..and of course Kate had a hissy fit and had to go with us... | Thanks for the responses. I think I am going to try an oatmeal shampoo for her bath on Saturday and not use conditioner and see if it gets a little better. I just feel bad for my little itchy/scratchy puppy! I was thinking maybe the weather down in Florida was drying her out too (like when humans get dry from weather). We'll see if this bath works though, I'm hoping!! -Ashley & Emmy |

| Gucci had itchy and dry skin when I was feeding her Nutro. She was allergic to the corn and gluten. Since I switch to Canidae she is not itchy anymore. I use Mane N tale and Tresseme or Pantene conditioner. so far they work fine. I did try the Missing link for a while and it works great. |
