| Pee problems Illy has been doing really good with her potty training but lately she has bee having accidents. It's like she does it deliberately or something. She uses pee pads and she knows she is supposed to go on them. Yesterday she was sitting next to me on the couch and was looking right at me and just peed. I was sooo mad. What is with this? Someone help me. This has happened more than once. She knows she is being bad because she will put her ears and tail down and sulk away. I don't understand why she is doing this. I was also wondering about what to do about her peeing when she gets excited. I have heard there is nothing you can do about it, is this true. It's getting out of control. She has peed on some of my friends when they walk in the door. Pleas help me. Thank you!!

| How old is she? I know that sometimes, even when they are potty trained, they will pee to get attention, even if it is negative attention. When she pees, try not to make any fuss, just pick her up and put her on her pee pads and make her stay on them for a few minutes. This is what I did for all of mine - I wouldn't even look at them since I didn't want them to think that peeing/pooping got ANY attention unless it was on the pee pad. Ofcourse when she does pee on the pads then make a huge fuss & praise her like crazy. Hope that helps. As for her being excited and peeing, I think that sometimes it goes away with age. Just ignore her until she calms down, when friends come over tell them to ignore her - don't let them talk to her or pet her since that's probably exzctly when she pees. All my doggies will pee pee when they are excited and people go gaga for them when they come over - I just tell everyone to ignore them until they calm down.

| maybe she has a urinary tract infection? Why don't you call your vet and talk to him/her about it. My dog had these same symptoms and it turned out she had a UTI. She was treated with antibiotics and then was fine. Keep us posted and good luck! |

| Sounds to me like 'submissive urination'. I found a website that helps explain it...it's easier to give you this than to try to explain it myself! http://www.usask.ca/wcvm/herdmed/app.../suburine.html There are lots of other websites out there that give you tips on helping to deal with it as well. Also, I would have her checked out at the vet to rule out urinary tract infection. My last pup suffered with submissive urination for a few months after we adopted her from the SPCA. Once we learned WHY she was urinating, it didn't take long to help her eliminate the problem. She would have the rare accident in years to follow, but was pretty much free from it for the rest of her life. |
