| Ate Her Own Poop!!??! Emmy sleeps with me, and has been doing really good with the potty training. Well this week, she's had quite a few poo poo accidents in the house. She sleeps in my bed, and when I woke up this morning there were two little poops right next to me. I look at the dog and she looks like she is chewing!! The poops were little so I figure whatever else came out she ate! I am soooo angry....and as I am typing this she pooped on the floor and didn't even run to the front door! Ahhhh, I am getting reallllly mad. I know she is 5 1/2 months old, but sooo frustrating!! Now her eating her own poop (GROSS), does anyone know if it will make her sick!? -Thanks, Ashley & Emmy |

Lovin' 2 Girls Donating Member | This is very frustrating. But, as I am reminded by others: "Dogs eat stuff". Some dogs eat their poo, and some don't. There seems no rhyme nor reason as to who does what, or why. Perhaps Emmy tried to let you know she needed to potty; but couldn't wake you? Does she have steps to get off the bed?

| My trixie use to eat her own poop. It is so disgusting. You can get coprophagia (the term used for the eating of feces) at most pet stores and they will keep your dog from eating his own poop.

| I know many, many people sleep with their dogs... I would draw the line if I were sleeping next to poop...(or pee).... I know your furbaby is little..... I guess alot of you can tolerate more than I can.... There is stuff you can buy that you put in their food to make their poop taste bad.... GOOD LUCK!

| Thanks so much for the advice. This is the first time she has ever done this. Usually when we are outside and she sees other dogs poop or even her own she sniffs and walks away. That is the last time I will have her sleep on my bed. She's been doing it for a few weeks now and everything was fine. Back into her crate she goes. This whole potty training thing is wearing really thin on me!! :-( She's been doing AWESOME too, but this last week it's like she forgot everything about where to go poop. (Knock on wood) She hasn't peed in the house in about 2 months, so I guess it's one thing to be thankful for! -Ashley & Emmy |

| There's a product called deter which is MSG you can sprinkle on their food, or you can use Accent but I would wait until its a regular occurrence before doing this. My sweet little Lacy would go out and eat the big dog's poop and I would totally gross out. My husband would laugh at me and say she just wanted a warm meal! |

Lovin' 2 Girls Donating Member | Would it be really terrible of me to lace something with one of these products for the neighbors' cats that come POOP in my yard?!! 'Cause, so far, THAT's the only poop Abbie seems to wanna eat!

You should also check with your vet that she has no nutritional deficiencies because this can sometimes be a motivator. And I've read elsewhere that putting courgette (zucchini) into their food is a great deterrent to them from eating their poo too Good luck anyway and let us know how it goes Annie x | |

| Smudger did this for a few days and then I realised it was because I had given him a handful of cheerios and his pooh must have smelt/tasted sweet. I never gave him cheerios again after that day and he stopped eating his pooh straight away
