| Is it just my Yorkie?! Okay. So I was reading through some other threads and saw that a lot of people sleep with their yorkies. Even when they were puppies. How did you all get them to go to sleep?? Yogi is almost 3 1/2 months. We have been crate training so he spends some time in his crate. I have tried to bring him up to bed with me at night because I would love for him to sleep with us. But when I do, he goes haywire!! He won't calm down. He's sniffing all over the bed. Running all around on it. Clearly wanting to do nothing but play. I've tried to get him tired out before bed by playing but it seems like no matter what I do, there is no tiring out Yogi. He is full speed ahead all the time! So I end up putting him back in his crate and he is fine. How did you all get your puppies to go to sleep at your bedtime? Mine just freaks and wants to play!! Help!!

| All 7 of mine sleep with either us or my mom. They all sleep too! We never let them "play" on the bed. Even when they're young, "play-time" and "sleep-time" mean two different things. You have to be stern with them at first. They want to jump all over your head, lick your face, pull your hair, and just play!! But one stern "NO PLAYING ON THE BED", and mine all settle down and sleep. Believe me, if they didn't, I could never let all 7 of them up there at the same time! Of course, when it's time to get up, it's DEFINTELY time to get up!! My hubands clock goes off and they know it's time. But it' worth every second of it! If we go out of town for one night, I have a hard time sleeping without all my kids. Wintertime is great. They all like to snuggle. Good luck. Suz

| I would let Diesel stay in bed with us for a while. I guess I just got lucky. He loved to snuggle and would crawl up on my pillow and go to sleep. Now he had his moments where he would want to do nothing but play. When it was time to go to sleep I would put him in his playpen and he would calm down after a bit and go to sleep. It might just take some time but he will get the hang of it. Congrats on your new baby. Michelle |

| Topher has slept with us since his first night home. He spent a long day travelling in his kennel that day, so I didn't have the heart to put him back in it at bedtime. He curled up next to me and slept through the night till I woke him in the morning. It's been like that for the past few months. (He's 6 mos. old now) I have M.S. and nap and rest quite a bit. Topher is in bed with me whenever I'm in bed...he won't have it any other way. Even if I have the odd day when I stay in bed for most of the time, he wants to stay with me and only gets up to eat or do his business. I'd suggest trying him out for naps and if he sees that you're not going to play with him and are going to sleep, he might eventually catch on. Sorry, I can't think of anything else to suggest. Good luck! |

| I refuse to let my baby sleep in bed with me. I DO love her but here are my reasons: 1. I move, flip flop a lot when I'm asleep. I don't want to "accidentally" crush her one night. 2. If I were to go on a vacation and she has to stay at a friend's or family's, I wouldn't want them to feel, "Oh man, she's used to sleep in bed with people... What should we do?" Or, worse, she cries all night long and keeps them up awake. I can't do that to other people. This is just me. |

| oscar has started sleeping with us and my basset hound likes to sleep in bed too. I just got them when they lay down for a nap thru the day and put them on the bed. the first night I let them look around the bed and do their sniffing and investgating a few min before bedtime so it was overwith by sleep time. |

| I guess we just got lucky - with both our guys - Rowdy and Rexy. Rowdy slept in a crate till he was about 5 months old - and when he first started sleeping with us - he did tromp around a little bit - but would settle down in a few minutes when we turned the light out. Rexy stayed in the crate for one week and then started crying - so I put him in bed with me and he snuggled down and went right to sleep and has done so ever since (about 5 weeks) - he doesn't even tromp around like Rowdy did. I think it may be that the crate is your baby's "safe place" "his space" and the bed is too open for him. It may be like human kids, some have a harder time calming themselves and when t hey are over stimulated, they need special space or blankets or whatnot to calm themselves. Your baby may be one that doesn't quite yet know how to calm himself and/or is overstimulated by everything on the bed. Both Rowdy and Rexy are pretty calm and laid back most of the time - oh don't get me wrong, they can go NUTS over something - but in general they are calm. Your baby may just need to grow up a little more. Good luck!

| I was way to easy on Diva. She had a huge fenced off area in the dinidg room for her to play and sleep. Well she didn't feel like it. So I would leave the gate open and she would come up to the bed when she was ready for bed. We had a few nights were she would get off the bed and go play but she didn't play on the bed much. Now as soon as I say it's time for bed she gets on the bed and curls up. She goes right to sleep. The only time I have a problem is when my boyfriend would come home for visits. She would get so excited and just lick his face and bug him all the time. But this last time he was home she was better. He is moving home for good in June so hopefully she will get used to him. But My boyfriend's dog sleeps on the floor on his own bed and Ben wants to train Diva to do the same thing. I'm not sure how that will go. But if you are just consistent about it being bed time and not play time I'm sure it will work out.

| Hmmmm Sounds like you should let him up on the bed during the day to play, and at night turn the lights off, and he might get the idea it's time to go to sleep. Princess loves our bed, she lets me know when it's time for bed. Do you have stairs so he can get up and down? Good Luck to you!

| I put Parker in his crate when we go to bed, He wakes me up at 2:30 everynight, I take him outside then he goes back to bed with us. He is great, is goes right to sleep. I would let him sleep there the whole time but I'm afraid he would pee in my bed. is he 4 months old. |

| Buffy has a little pop-up type soft crate that she just adores!!! I keep it in my bedroom. Depending on her mood, she will sometimes sleep in my bed or sometime in her little "house". There are some nights she just can't make up her mind. I wish she was more of a "snuggler" but she stay at the bottom of the bed.... It's amazing how each have their own personality.... |

| Might be because your pup is 3 1/2 months old. Mine started sleeping with me when he was only 8 weeks old, and at that time, he was sleeping almost all the time anyway. Also - I generally go to bed late - around midnight - this helps. And still - he often wants to run around and play for a while, but not as much as your dog does - and this eventually dies down and he goes to sleep. He's good about sleeping all night. He wakes up around 7 or 8. *** He's 9 months old now. If, at 3 1/2 months, he is only beginning to sleep with you - he is still probably excited about being able to do this - and really thinks of it as playtime rather than time to go to sleep. I would think that after a while, he'll learn that going to bed means going to sleep. Carol Jean |

| Jersey sleeps with us sometimes, when the lights go out she goes to sleep. She does play on the bed during the day, she'll lay with my husband and watch TV as long he'll lay there.
