| Is your yorkie possessive of you? I'm the primary caregiver to my yorkie Bunjee. He is the sweetest thing... most of the time. At night, when hubby isn't home, we like to veg out in the living room and watch tv. Well last night, me, hubby, and bunjee are vegging out and getting ready to watch a video. bunjee usually vegs out on my left side, between me and hubby. So last night, hubby tried to pick up and move bunjee to my right side so he can be closer to me ... and bunjee went bezerk! he was growling and squirming and trying to lunge and bite hubby! he's never like this with hubby! they usually love to play with each other so this is so out of the ordinary for bunjee! So i told bunjee "NO" and he stopped fighting but still had a low growl. and he tried to lunge again when hubby tried to pick him up again, so i ended up picking up bunjee and placing him on my right side. when i moved bunjee, he still had a low growl, but not directed at me, but at hubby. i'm just flabbergasted. i thought they were get along so well. hubby thinks bunjee is being possessive of me and disrespecting him. any ideas? any suggestions on what i should do? |

| Oh, i just wanted to add, I've seen bunjee do this one other time. a friend of mine babysat bunjee along with her yorkie. she said they played along really well while i was gone. but when i returned and was giving both yorkies some love and attention (petting one with each hand), bunjee went ballastic and started to lunge and growl and pick a fight with his friend. i told him NO and to BE NICE. but he was still being very guarded for some reason. |

| Mine and my daughter's little girl Chelsea is extremely possesive of us both. More so my daughter than me. She's an older girl...and was my dog first, then my daugther took her over and she really shows other people that they should not "mess" with either of us, LOL If my hubby or anyone taps on my leg while she's on my lap, she shows her teeth! LOL |

| How funny! I was just thinking of posting this exact same problem. Lily has done the the same thing to my hubby but as a one time thing, I wasn't sure what was going on. However, my daughter was upset last night and crying so she came over to give me a hug. Lily went nuts, jumped on my chest and bit my daughter on the nose. I had Sydney move away and then come back to me several times and Lily wouldn't let her hug me. If Sydney started to hug, Lily stretched as far across my chest as possible and put her head on my shoulder. Lily got a spanking for biting though! (I did think it was cute that Lily thinks I belong to her eventhough I didn't like the biting)

| My hubby gets up at 2am to go to work, but his days off of course, he sleeps thru the night. Rocco is so used to sleeping in bed with me, and thinks my bed is our bed, well one Sat night, hubby fell asleep downstairs, woke up at 3am and came up to bed. Rocco was sleeping on hubby's side, so quietly he tried to move him to his basket at the foot of our bed (it sits on my hope chest), Rocco growled and snapped at him. Michael told him, 'No' and placed him in his basket. Rocco ran back to hubby's side of the bed and growled and snapped at him. Needless to say Rocco was in the doghouse that weekend! My 21 yr old daughter, Danielle, moved home last August and had our granddaughter in November, Rocco has been guarding her since the day we brought her home. So when we brought home Bella in March, the new puppy was curious when Danielle & baby Lauren came to visit (they moved out in Feb.), Rocco ran over to the carseat and began growling at Bella...he did not want Bella anywhere near his baby! I am comforted to know other dog's do this, too!

| Chachi is possessive of my 5 year old Daughter. If my other yorkie Jewels barks or growls at My Daughter Chachi will attack Jewels.

| Yep! Diesel is when it comes to our Shepherd. Diesel will bite his nose if he thinks he is too close to me. ... My grandmothers dog is really bad about it. Almost to the point of being a danger. Michelle |

| Both of mine are this way. Tonee will always put herself between me and whoever. My husband will come to one side and there she is, move to the other and there she is. It's pretty funny, he calls her the " " blocker. Now, Gypse he is a little more aggressive with it, he has not snapped at my husband but he did bite my little boy the other day . I was not happy with that. We are going to have to work on that one. I know they are going to be protective and possessive because I am the one who cares for them, but I can not have my son being bitten. He did not get blood or anything but still, I do not want him to be scared of the dog. He was getting really good with him, no more growling at him or anything, than all of a sudden.......So if anyone does have suggestions they are welcome. I am thinking of placing him in the room with him (in his kennel), just let him sit there and be in the same room while he plays or whatever until he realizes that he poses no threat to him or anyone. I don't know if it is jealousy or if he does think that he is a threat for some reason.

| Very possessive dog here - she gets into bed between me and my husband - puts her feet on his back and tries pushing him out of bed. She has also done the squirmy growl thing, he has to ask permission before he sits beside me now! |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Mine ARE possessive except they want to take over any kissing or hugging. They never get upset they are just HUGE attention hogs. BUt...they are possessive with strangers that come near me in my house. Chanel will try to keep anyone away from me unless she knows them...and I usually have to hold her. |
