| Tails are docked their first few days after birth. If his tail is not docked now, I would leave it as it is. Yorkies are very cute with tails. I heard they were going to stop docking the tails. I'm not sure why they started doing it in the first place. If Princess wasn't done I would leave her tail alone. I'm sure it hurts!! Yorkies big or small, tail or docked, ears up, ears down, they all have hearts of gold, and we all love them the same!

| Docking a Yorkie's tail is your choice. Most Yorkie's tails in the US have been docked. In Europe, they are not doing this any longer. A long time ago, Yorkies' tails (and other dog's tails) were cut shorter because they were working dogs and their tails were in the way and were often injuried. Today, most of these same dogs are only pets......so, there is no good reason now to continue docking their tails. A lot of people believe that this practice is painful and unnecessary and won't do it. Other people are used to seeing the little Yorkie with a shorter tail and like it this way - so they are continuing to dock their tails. ****** We are seeing more and more Yorkies all the time with their longer natural tails. And - they are still as cute as they can be. **** In the US today, if you want to show your Yorkie - it's tail should be docked..... This will probably change in the future. Carol Jean |

| Europe and Australia are no longer docking ears/tails and I imagine it will one day hit the states. Your little one is fine with her tail...just enjoy her. Here is the crufts dog site and you will see many Yorkies with tails. http://www.the-kennel-club.org.uk/cr...uftsframe.html

| No,she doesn't need her tail docked! it needs to be done soon after birth, if done at all. My wee girl has her tail and looks so cute when she wags it with joy! Unless she is going ratting-the original reason-she doesn't need it docked. It is now illegal in many countries and many vets don't agree to do it in others. I'm sure she is beautiful the way she is.
