| Help Please Today it has been 6 weeks since I had to send my sweet little girl Chloe to the rainbow bridge. My heart is broken but I will survive that in time. The problem is now Jazmine the other Yorkie is devastated. She just mopes around just sleeps and now more accidents in the house. We will be getting another puppy, not a yorkie, but afraid of how Jazmine will respond as even though she was younger she was the dominate one. Last night she was whimpering in her sleep. I feel so bad for her. Wife and I have been giving her a lot more attention but she just mopes. Any suggestions would be greatly accepted. How can such a little ball of fur and vigor take over your heart and life? Chloe sure took over mine. Again any help on bringing in another puppy is needed. Thank you all for being there when it was my darkest time. Jim |

| Jim, I was just thinking about you as I sat down with my glass of wine. My daughter just lost a dog this week and her other dog seems totally lost too. I think there may be an adjustment period when you get a new one, but in time they will get along. We've brought new puppies in with older dogs many times and at first the older one is a little standoffish, but in time they learn their place and before you know it they are playing together. How old is Jazmine? What kind are you thinking of getting? I've read where the dogs left behind need to have their grieving time too, so it's good that she has had some time,. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I am so sorry for your loss. I think time is the only true healer. Jazmine is use to having another dog so even though she was the more dominent one she should adjust fairly easy. If nothing else it will be a distraction for her and your family. You may want to look for a puppy that is more laid back and willing to be the less dominant one. Please keep us posted.

| Are you a dog park person??? If you are thinking about another dog... I would hit the dog park and see how your baby acts around other dogs... look at what types your dog seems to enjoy... older, younger, smaller, bigger... it should give you some insight as to what your baby is ready for. I would mope too! I'd be pretty lonely! I bet a friend would be good medicine... But make follow the rules... Introduce on neutral ground, keep the smells the same... Bath the new dog in your dogs shampoo, or make arrangements for the dog to be groomed and bring your dogs shampoo... A familliar smell will get the new dog into the club alot quicker! Feed in seperate dishes at first... sure, they might eat out of the same one... but don't force it! You might be setting them up for conflict. If your baby enjoyed the company of your other dog, then I bet he's missing that companionship now... and will take to a new friend nicely.

| I lost a dog last October - that left my little Bichon without his companion. He also seemed to mope around and was very lethargic. About four months later, I brought my little 8-pound Yorkie home. The little Yorkie quickly made live "hell" for my 21-pound Bichon. He totally drove the very friendly, but somewhat shy and submissive Bichon crazy 24/7. However, within a few weeks, they became fast friends and spend a lot of time playing together. What I want to share with you is - that in spite of being driven crazy by this new little puppy constantly - the Bichon did come out of his shell, and he started eating better, playing, and definitely has come back to (and even surpassed) his usual friendly affectionate nature. ***** I think the first week or two are difficult for any dog when a new puppy enters the house, but with a lot of experience doing this, I can say that in my house - almost always - before long you begin to reap the rewards that you were hoping for. My 8 pound Yorkie and 21-pound Bichon have become fast friends. And - my Bichon certainly is no longer moping around - but rather has become friendly and playful. ***** I don't think it matters which one is the most outgoing or dominant (and, believe me, it can be the tiny little puppy) -- because they work this out between the two of them anyway. And in the long run, you will have two adult dogs that enjoy one another's company. Good luck! Carol Jean |

| It is hard I have seen the puppies of a previous litter. They are part, OH BOY spelling will be going to hell, Chiuaha and do not know the pups I have seen are so very cute. Getting Jazmine back to normal is hard. Even the vet said it will be months before Jazmine will get over the loss. My biggest fear now is her leaving as she is so miserable. I hope your daughters loss is healed . Jim |

| Thank you Jim, she's very busy with a baby and a toddler and going to school and doing her externship, so she doesn't have much time to grieve. I thinks as SnowWa said, even if they don't get along right at first it will be a distraction for her, and might bring her out of her shell. I am getting my second yorkie, tomorrow night. I am so excited. Ollie is just 4 months and the new one is 2 1/2 so it should be fun. |
