| A rear end question I know this is a goofy question and I promise I don't make a habit of checking out my dogs behind. Her rear end protrudes out pretty far. I don't remember it being like this when I first got her. Does this mean her anal glands need to be expressed? I looked at my other dogs butt and it doesn't do this.

| I look at Schatzie's butt a few times daily, just to make sure it's clean and stuff., luckily she doesn't seem to mind! Honestly, I do not know what a protruding rear means, id ask the vet...

| It sticks out pretty far. It looks like its an add on to her tail. That may be the reason I didn't notice this before she had alot of hair there. I cut alot of the hair down because shes messy when she goes#2. I am taking her to the vet next week. I am wondering if it is anal glands or maybe a hernia.

| Are you talking about her anus sticking out a little? Mia's does this a little teeny tiny bit. I noticed it when she I first got her. I could feel it when I shampooed her and washed her little bum. Anyway she's 22 months old now and it barely does it all. The vet said it was nothing. Hers was not a medical problem, not a hernia, hemmorroid, anal glands or anything to worry about. I thought it was because she was so tiny and skinny and she's still very lean as an adult. I kind of think of it in comparrison to a belly button, some people have inneys and some people have outies..maybe the same for bums. But still have the vet look at your pup because I can't actually "see" what you are talking about..I only know what Mia's was like so it could be totally different. It is hard to describe. But please let me know what your vet says.

| I am relieved a little bit that someone else's dog seems to have this. I thought I was the only one and then I wondered what it was. I am gonna point it out to the vet.

| Cordelia's did this when she was constipated. I would take her to the vet because it could be irritated and they will give you either a cream or a spray. I chose the spray because it was easier. It also could be irritated from her booty not being really clean. If you don't clean the poop from their behind it can cause irritation to the glands. Bottom line I would not wait for this to go away, you should have the vet look at it.

| Call your vet or take her in but just don't get upset yet because it may be nothing to worry about. Mia's isn't any medical or cleanliness issue..it's just how she is made. She has no constipation problems or irriatation. It's not a major sticking out problem.. But to be on the safe side ask your vet. When is your pup scheduled to go back in for shots? If it's like Mia's it's really hard to describe or picture. It's not freaky looking or anything, just a little something I noticed and asked the vet about. Mia's is nothing to worry about and if your dog is designed the same way just relax.
