| It is kind of a shame that you are required to be a donating member to participate. I could afford to participate but not if I am forced to donate $20 beforehand. That adds up to a little more than I am willing to spend for just one exchange. I can't believe there is not something else for people to do. I have good feedback on eBay and everything, and I do feel like you are cheating others out of being a part of this community by requiring such a high "donation." |

Administrator | We are sorry you feel that way, but we have already covered this topic here: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...5&postcount=12 We are not going to let our valued members be taken advantage of, as has happened in the past. No one is forced or required to be a part of the Gift Exchange, it is a fun extra we have for our members, one which is quite popular and enjoyable from the feedback we get from those that have participated. |

| I am not saying that anybody is being forced to participate, but you are definitely excluding people without giving them ample opportunity to participate, and that just doesn't make me feel very warm and fuzzy about being a part of this community at all. Honestly, you could even have people hold their gifts and not mail them to unconfirmed gift exchange participants until the "new" person's gift has been confirmed as received. It really just seems like you are excluding people without even considering other options. |

Administrator | Since this is our fourth Gift Exchange, we have had plenty of experience and have sought out all possible options and we have decided on this policy. It would be nice if everyone could trust one another, but unfortunately, that has failed this Yorkie community in the past. There is already a lot of time and effort that goes on to make each and every Gift Exchange possible, and we do not want to overwhelm the YorkieTalk staff with even more work, which would be necessary if we had any other policy. We have a simple set of rules for a reason and these rules apply to everyone. We have conferred with many members regarding this policy and have gotten overwhelming positive feedback, especially from members who have been personally hurt by members not sending out gifts. YorkieTalk is a free community and will continue to be a free community, but we have to have safeguards to protect our members and our community, and this is one of them. |
