| Fortunately not all shelters have a policy to pts the animals that they take into the shelter. Money is the big issue so donations would help a lot. Of course, spaying/neutering does help a lot, too. Adopting from either a shelter or a rescue program SAVES animals. I feel so good that I decided to adopt after my two special guys passed away. I know that I've helped make a difference. The big bonus, of course, is Sean, the very special guy that is now such an important part of my life. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | We talk about this ALOT here....another reason we try to educate people on HOW to buy a puppy - Or BREEDING your dog....or NOT buying from Pet Stores..... when you finish reading that site - type in Puppy Mills - you'll get even sicker reading about them. Puppies are now a HUGE business with big profit. We ALL NEED TO GET AS UPSET AS YOU ARE and try to stop it however we can...every little way helps. Tell your friends about what you're reading - tell ANYONE who will listen & one day.... people may be heard and we can cut down on the mass breeding of dogs - thereby cutting down on the shelter dogs.

| Very, very sad . I never really thought about it before but I can't believe people go and drop their pets off (?!). I don't know what we do here but it's awful. I feel bad I was so insistent on getting a Yorkie. Maybe I was too picky and should have got a shelter dog... |

| There's not much I can do here but I just googled puppy mills and found this very excellent site. I'm sure everyone here knows about it but I might put it in my sig anyway. There's a very good campaign called PAWS that the Human Society of America has organised. It looks very easy to get hold of your various US Representatives to take action on getting puppy mills to adhere to more stringent animal welfare laws - which they seem to be working around with loopholes at the moment http://www.stoppuppymills.org/ Why don't they just ban puppies, kittens and other mammals from their pet stores like we do here?! |
