| Welcome to YT!!!!!! Yes, I think they do get lonely. Do you leave the radio or TV on for him? Maybe you can get him a playmate

I'm a believer that they do. I would hate being by myself all day long with just toys and no one to play with. That's why we have 2 even though I don't work. They are great company to each other.

| i think they get lonely. romeo won't eat when i'm working and home alone. i work at night now so my fiance' will be home with him. getting a second dog is outta the question because romeo can't resist a pee pee contest and will pee all over. maybe a dog walker can come visit your doggie when you are out. good luck. yorkies are like babies. |

| Yeah, I think they do! That is why we take Oscar everywhere we possibly can. We travel with our job so we are able to take him everywhere. We even take him on the Harley when we ride and eat where there are outside tables so he is welcome! Very rarely we have to leave him home and I can tell he is heartbroken. A playmate would definitely be a plus for him!!!

| Welcome to yorkietalk! I am sure that they get lonely, either leave the tv on or a radio, so that they can hear something! That is the reason that I got 2 so that I dont have to worry too much!

| yeah i think they get lonely when they're alone. mine won't eat, or play, or even pee when i leave him at home alone. i think mine gets depressed when i'm away too. last week, was held for observation at the vet's after his shots. he was all excited to see me when i picked him up, but then i had to turn him over immediately to my brother who took him to my parents' house while i went to class. i got to my parent's house a few hours later and my mom was holding bunjee in her lap. she said there might be something wrong with bunjee, like he's sick or something. he just slept or laid there refusing to eat and wouldn't play even tho there's a house full of people he's familiar with. he just wasn't his regular animated self. but even as she tells me this, bunjee perks up as he sees me coming towards him, got all excited, jumped off my mom's lap, and ran up to me for attention. my mom diagnosed that my presence helped him make a full recovery. haha. |

| Welcome to YT! I definetly think they get lonely and we have another dog that keeps him company. I work from home often but when I have to go in the office I wait until later in the day so I know my fiance' will be home soon after. I know that some people aren't able to do that, so I would suggest leaving the radio or TV on. But another Yorkie would be the best solution

| I think "yes" and "no." I do think that little puppys - when they are first taken away from their mother and litter mates - and are expected to sleep alone (in a crate or in another room) for the first time in their life - are very lonely - and frightened as well. This is why I let my little pup sleep with me from day one. I got my pup when he was 8 weeks old - and stayed home with him the first week. The second week, he stay with my sister. The third week, he had neighbors dropping by once or twice a day to check on him. Since then, he has been left alone when I work (6 hours -four days a week). I always leave quickly without announcing to him that I'm going - and, I have often stayed outside the door for several minutes to see if he starts whinning, but he never does. I know dogs sleep some 14 hours a day (house dogs especially) -- and it is obvious often when I get home that he has been sleeping ---because he is stretching and yawning when I come into the house. But - he certainly is excited. And - he's just as excited if I go outside for only 20 minutes and then come back in. I leave lights and a radio on for him - and all the things he needs. I think he does just fine - mainly because things have been this way for him most of his life. He really doesn't know anything different. ***** When I am home all day (three days a week) --- he still sleeps most of the time. And, he doesn't stay with me all the time. More often than not, he is off in another part of the house sleeping or doing his own thing. BUT - after all is said and done -- this is just the way it has to be for us. I have to work - and he has to stay home. Darn! I'd much rather be a stay-at-home mom......wouldn't we all!!!!! Carol Jean |

| I was wondering the same thing and because of that, I am even considering getting another yorkie for Bella to play with. She gets soooo excited to see other dogs and humans at Petsmart that I think she needs a companion. At home she just walks around and does her own thing. Man, I would be bored if I were her. |
