| New Dog bone...try it! Today i went to Publix (grocery store) and found Kelsey some new bones. A friend reccomended them to me so I thought i'd try them out. I gave Kelsey one after her dinner and she is in heaven! They are in the meat department (in a center rack/stand thing they're not being refridgerated...if you can't find them just ask someone who works there. They are called "Butcher Shoppe hickory smoked beef dog bone" They are small round bones that are seperated in one package, with hickory flavoring all around. It is about $5 for them and they also come in different sizes.

| The meat department at our Publix's also will cut from a leg bone, bones about 3" in diameter and about 1/2" thick. They still have the soft marrow in them. Our girls love them! We put them in baggies and freeze them! We got some last week and we got about 8 for a dollar something!

| We've had no problems with them at all. They haven't even gotten "pieces" off them so far. They are very hard!

| That's a heck of a lot cheaper than the $5 bones I bought at Petsmart! Throw in the kong stuff I fill them with and, and I've got a small investment!! And even though I bought 5 so that everybody has one, Dublin usually ends up with all of them!! He hides his and then goes to the other dogs and stares them down and barks at them until they're distracted for a mico-second. Then whooosh!! He's snatched their bone and he's long gone!! Do you cook the bones first or do they get them raw? They're thick, right? So they don't splinter...

| It depends on the size of your dog, I would guess. Tell your butcher what kind of dog(s) you have and ask him what size bones you should be giving them. He should know. M&M's are about 3" in diameter and only about 1/2" thick but our girls aren't but about 8 lbs each. Muffie has a strong bite for a Yorkie but she's never splintered one of the size we get her. You have to ASK the butcher to cut you some. They have to have a "leg bone" there or you may have to wait a few days. The marrow is still inside and it's soft and reminds me of hardened Crisco. I remove it before I give the bone to the girls. It looks just like hardened grease and I'm afraid they might get diarrhea from it. There's always just a smidgeon of meat around the edge. I cut the "grissle" off, also. They love these bones.
