Smile Better pet - male or female??

Hi, I'm sure I'll get many responses both ways. Just curious to see what people say. I'm looking for a Yorkie, not sure if I want a male/female. What are some of your opinions about which sex is a better pet, and why do you feel that way? Thanks!

I think each sex has their own special uniqueness. Being that I am more familiar with the male side because my female is only 9-weeks from what I have heard the males are much more affectionate, loving and cuddly but I know there are exceptions. From what I have learned of my little Morgan she is more of an adventure seeker and not much into me holding her but she is still a pup. I am sure you will get lots of responses and the best of luck to you in finding the most suitable pet for you and your family.

well i Have a little boy and i love him. I personally chose a male because of the females heat they go thru and the fact that every girl i seen was stanofish. I however did not expect all this darn marking Mason is doing. He has to wear a bellyband at night and does ggod during the day. I think boys are more affectionate than girls but that my opinion. Either way you go you cant go wrong. I mean it's a yorkie!!

I prefer the girls over the boys because of the male humping and marking. although I had a female yorkipoo that did both. but that is just for the neutered and spayed pets. As for the intact dogs. they both have their drawbacks. the heat seasons and the marking.

I've never had a boy dog, but I have heard they are more affectionate. Big babies like all males. LOL

I have a male and a female and they are both affectionate. I would just pick out the puppy you like best and not worry about the sex.

Both are affectionate but males seem to seek it out more. Females are more independent. I have all girls but I did have a male that passed away and he was nothing but one big cuddly snuggly baby.

I have a male and my aunt has his litter mate sister! The males seem more laid back, and tend to stick with one or two people. The female is very hyper, and isn't timid with anyone. I personally prefer male, but then that is my opinion. They are all adorable, and each has its own personality so you really need to find the one that is right for you!

i always had male dogs, i heard they are more affectionate, but in my case
my girl is the best..i love females,, one reason, no lifting legs on furniture,
refrigerator, or anywhere else where its unnoticable... its just depend on
what you want.. im sure whatever yu choose will be the right sex for you..

personally i think the best pet is the one with the personality and temperament that best suits you, not the sex of the pet.

typically a male is suppose to be more affectionate and remain puppy-like throughout the years while the female is more independent and become more refined and mature as she ages. males have the bad rep of marking, lifting, and humping, but the fact of the matter is, some females can also exhibit those behaviors in the effort to show dominance.

i would have loved to get a little girl because there's just so many more cute outfits for little girls as opposed to little boys, but decided on a male for a few reasons...financial: males are cheaper to purchase and cheaper to neuter; worry: neutering is less invasive than spaying, less worry for me; personality: i just loved bunjee's personality when i first saw him, he was curious but also cautious, shy but not fearful, friendly but not bouncing off the walls hyper.

good luck with your decision and search!

i can't speak for females because I have never had one. But my boy Nikko is the sweetest, friendliest and most affectionate little boy. He loves to cuddle and give kisses. He is possessive and jealous of me but i love him to bits. My uncle has a female maltese and she is a total diva. She is very standoffish and only allows you to pet her when she feels like it. I guess it depends on whether you want a more dependent or independent pet. Whatever you decide I am sure he/she will bring you years of joy!!

We have a male and a female pup in the house. They are about 2 weeks apart in age from different breeders. Gypsy is affectionate and loves to cuddle (except for right now as she is mad I just gave her a bath). Gremlin who belongs to my dtr and her hubby is a boy's boy. Rambunctious (sp) and mean as a snake. They fit our personalities good.

Love

i have always had boy dogs (not all yorkies) and I love them. THey are crazy as puppies but seem to really relate well with the owner. My brother's dog, a bichon male, is an active member in the family- run of the house- but very calm. You can really talk to him. haha He's insanely smart. My little boy yorkie is hyper, but very smart and sweet. He hasn't marked, doesn't hump anymore, completely potty trained, and knows so many great tricks (basic and then some fun ones). My mom had a female mutt and she said her dog was the best dog in the world- lol that may just be biased..but who knows? I think it has a lot to do with personality, dominance, and basic training. I think every pup is perfect for a certain person! GOodluck!!!

P.S I also heard that males were harder to train. I told a lady at my work that I was getting a yorkie male and she questioned my patience! haha She said I was crazy for getting a boy! I guess it all depends!

IMHO, it depends entirely on the individual dog and has nothing to do with their gender.

I have a almost 4 month old female and I just adore her. She is very playful and has a great personality. She isn't shy at all and loves company. She is also a big cuddler, especially when she is sleepy.

i have both and i would say a female - much easier to train, they both are very lovable - but my boy is very bad...... especially with potty training and spraying everywhere.
