| Runt of the Litter, Is he healthy update... For those of you who responded to my question about my friends little yorkie with the short legs and swollen belly, I have an update. Both of our puppies went to the Vet today and Little Sebastian (my puppy) is healthy and got all of his vaccinations up to date. Samson, (runt) has some serious problems. He has a 1 inch by 9mm fontanelle (open area) on top of his little head which the vet said she's never seen in her 9 years of seeing animals. She said that he's probably going to develop seizures and will likely have many other problems, as he looks to have some genetic issues going on. She suggested that he try to get his money back from the breeder and try to get a new puppy that won't have so many problems. Though it makes him sad, (He has become very attached to little samson in his short time having him) he will probably have to give him back to the breeder. (the breeder is fighting him over this and says that after 72 hours they normally dont take them back and doesn't want to give him his money back) He is an OBGYN and already has limited time and needs a healthy pup that won't require a lot of medical attention. I hate so bad that it has turned out like this for him. I hope we'll be able to find him another puppy that he can love. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Good news for your pup but sad for the other. Your friend could always take this breeder to court. That is terrible that she won't stand behind her pup. Open Fontanels develop lots of problems. You have to always be careful. A tiny bump on the head could kill this little one. Shame on this breeder for selling this pup!

| How awful. I'm sorry for your friend but what's going to happen to the puppy now? If the breeder won't take it back, what will your friend do? I had heard that open fontanelle's are a big problem with Yorkies bred too small. Yet another reason not to keep supporting breeders who persist in putting money before the health of the breed. That's very sad news indeed. Poor Samson x |

| I am glad for the one puppy and very very sad for the other one. What a shame the breeder will not do right... So now what happens to this little puppy? I know a rescue lady in Florida that resuces yorkies...she takes them to a very good vet and does everything for them that they need done to make their life better. Any ways in case they would want to give them to her pm me and I will give you her info. |
