| I need some encouragment Oh you guys are great, thanks for all the birthday wishes. I think I got more "Happy Birthday" wishes from you guys than I did from my real family. Here is my situation. As some of you know, I am supposed to be picking up my new puppy next week. I am kinda getting discouraged about my new boy, cause I was supposed to pick him up Monday but now my M.I.L. is acting funny about baby sitting the kids. They are on spring break that week and it's about a 3-4 hour drive. She was supposed to watch them for me and then this morning she changed her mind (as usuall). Now she says that she "forgot" that they would be out of town too. I think she is just saying that because she knows how bad I want this dog and she HATES me.It would just kill me if I couldn't get this dog and she knows it. She is being a spiteful old hag. She made the comment yesterday to my hubby that "Anyone who would pay that much money for a little old ratty dog is plum stupid" . OHHHHH she pisses me off! She is just jealous cause Roxi (and every other yorkie) is prettier than she is. Maybe it's just not meant for me to have another puppy.I need some encouraging words, PLEASE!!!!!! |

| I'll be praying that everything works out for you. You were ment to have another pup otherwise you wouldn't have found one. Do you have anyone else that could possiably stay with the kids while you get your new pup? Maybe you could pay a neighbor hood teen to watch the kids. I'm sure you'll come up with something! Good luck. |

| Your post puts me to mind of a car window sticker I saw once, instead of saying "child in car" it said "mother-in law in trunk" lol , sorry to offend anyone who's mom in law is their best friend, Don't get down, some people just don't understand the bond that forms between people and their pets, and educating these people can be very difficult. Try to keep your chin up, It will happen, If you were near me I would sit for you, so you could pick up your new family member, Hang in there, The good lord always provides.

| Why can't the kids go with you? And maybe the breeder would meet you half way or something. It sounds like she's trying be passive aggressive just to control you. It's none of her beeswax what you spend your money on! From now on tell you prefer not to talk about your finances with her. I had to do that with my MIL many years ago because she was always asking questions about how much we made or spent. (She wasn't trying to be mean or anything. Just nosy!) I hate to see the evil MIL win this one! Want me to talk to her for ya? Edited to add: There are lots of YTers in Ohio. Maybe you can put out a plea for a babysitter on here. Or you might have better luck if you ask someone to pick up the baby for you. I KNOW lots of us would do almost anything to play with a puppy for a few hours!!

BANNED FOR NOT MAILING PRODUCTS PURCHASED | you know, it's sad when your own family wont stand behind you. I get so ticked off when I hear about family disputes, I'm such a family person and my parents mean the world to me, they have always backed me up with whatever I wanted, even if it was a mistake. You need to wash your hands with you MIL, if she does not want to be a part of your kids then you should make sure she never see's them again. I take it your parents arent around to help you out? Are the kids to young to go with you to pick up the pup? If I was closer to you I would watch them for you! I'm so sorry you dont have anyone to help you out. But what ever happens I'm sure it will all work out. |

| M.I.L.s...one reason that I'm glad I didn't marry Mike! LOL Oh, and why can't the kids come with you? Quick go buy a dvd player for the car and some dvds to keep them occupied. Then your husband can tell the MIL that you bought a really expensive toy for the car too! If you were like me, this ordeal would make me want the dog even more. OH!! Why can't hubby stay home with the kids, and you go by yourself?

| I would definately not count on your MIL to watch your children now or in the future. Some people are just control freaks. I think that is sad that she is backing out at the last min. When you make a commitment to someone you should stick to it. Maybe there is a teen or neighborhood babysitter that can help you out. Best of luck to ya. |

| Thanks guys! I just got finished fussing out hubby for telling her about the price. Thats NONE of her beeswax! He said that she told him that he was crazy for getting it for me. And that if I wanted an expensive dog to play around with that I needed to go back to work. This coming from the same woman who HATES me cause I chose to be a working mother (unlike her), she says that it is "Ungodly for a woman to work outside the home". Oh, and I would take the kids but My oldest has baseball practice (all week) and my daughter has Tumble/cheerleading practice all week (they are going to a NAtional competition and the rule is if she misses practice she wont be able to compete). Thats why she was gonna watch them...so she could take them to their practices.Oh well! |

| That really sucks that your MIL is being that way. I would still go get my pup, but would tell my husband that he needs to take a vacation day to watch the kids, since his mother is being difficult. If your husband could take off work for a day, don't you kids have friends on there teams they could hang out with that day. Last edited by Rockster's Mom; 04-04-2006 at 06:30 AM. |
