Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | What did I do - !!! I feel terrible - I had the puppy, Cherish, outside with me - (my yard is very doggie ready) and it was only for a few minutes but much later that night (last night) she started really shaking her head, scratching her little ears and acting flippy. I immediately thought OH NO!! She might have a bug in her ear - or mites - so I used the ear stuff Lily (a breeder) gave me...course she cried and hated me...and here it is in the morning on a Saturday of course - and she is still mad at me ! What I am REALLY WORRIED about is maybe She is not ok and feels badly ! She did not eat anything outside - I just let her sit in the grass and snapped a few pics - I think it was a very bad idea !! She had begun her shots and as I said - I really take care of my yard because of my other 2 dogs !! She isn't shaking her head anymore but she is not acting the same either - she's not playing - not following me around, hardly ate this morning, and in general - seems really pissed at ME! I'm getting ready to call the emergency vet - if I can get them, but it doesn't SEEM like an emergency ? Anyone have any thoughts ? - I feel TERRIBLE like I caused this and I want her to be OK !!! I forgot to say at 5 sm she seemed to be back to normal - but now - a few hours later - she has stayed in a bed that she never sleeps in ! It is 10 am and usually she is up following me around - now I'm worried more...

| I don't think it is anything you did. She may have ear mites with an ear infection. So she would need an antibiotic with her ear med. It is very common in puppies. Seems like all of my and my parents pups included ear mites when we got them. Give her extra attention and if her ears are bothering her take her in on Monday. Also, you should try some nutical or some kind of vitamin paste to perk her up. It really works good as I have seen. She is sleeping in because she does not feel well. If I were you I would ask the breeder if the ear med she gave you includes and antibiotic. If it is over the counter it does not so see your vet on Monday. Poor little Cherry hope she is feeling herself soon. |

| Does Cherish's ear smell? I remember funky ear smell to be a symptom of something like ear mites or infections. Did she 'shake it out' after you gave her the ear medication? Perhaps try with a q-tip and clean her ears either with a dry q-tip or a little moist one. Ear infections make our little Yorkies VERY VERY cranky! Seeing the vet on Monday would be a good idea if she doesn't perk up by then, but like you said, it doesn't seem like a total emergency at this point. You're a great Mom to your dogs, just sometimes being outside, anything can happen to a Yorkie... |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | WENT to the VET Thanks - and I decided to go right after I posted this ! We Just got back - and she is FINE - I don't know what was wrong - I had the doctor check every inch of her. This might be my NEW doctor - he spent a good 40 minutes with us and was even holding her and kissing her ! He said maybe a bug bite but saw no evidence of that, or anything else... and of course now that we went - she is acting FINE ! Ate some peanut butter at the vet and in general - was an angel. I have never seen this doctor before but I really liked him and he seemed to really care ! He even gave me his Cell number just in case something comes up over the rest of the weekend !! Now..that's never happened with the other doctors I've seen ! But thanks for the good advise - I normally don't panic except she is only 10 weeks old !! I feel sooooo much better now - talk about guilt ! |

| Glad Cherish is doing good. You did the right thing taking her, you know her better than anyone. It might seem we over react, but now you know that she is ok and you can have a good weekend. It's nice to deal with a vet that cares, I think are furbabies can tell..................Cindy |

| Glad to hear Cherry is Ok Just got in town.....checked the board.....sorry to hear about Cherry (love the name and the reason for the name).... I would have guessed ear mites...but fortunately not that.....and at that age...you have to be careful with these babies....so I would have taken Max too.....(However, I didn't meet Max until he was 4 1/2 months old......he was a rescue from a filthy pet store.....yes I know all the reasons for not buying at a pet store....but I could have never left him in that filthy cage. I think he had been abused too.....so he had me after Hello! I have never regretted it for one minute. Hope little precious continues in good health. You are a loving mom Max's Mom |

| You gotta good vet if they spent 40 minutes checking over Cherish! Glad to hear everything is okay, they sure can get fussy! I hate it when they get all fussy and don't pay attention to us and go somewhere and sulk! The little kid mentality drives me nuts! |
