| (thank you) having to choose between my boyfriend and my puppy Thank you everyone for giving the best advice I can get. I came to the right place because everyone here loves yorkies as much as I do. We are all here because we adore them. After long hours on the phone with my boyfriend and arguing all day at work with him. We have finally come to an agreement. He understands that I love my dog and respects it. He told me that as long as I train her and figure out a way to avoid this from happening he wouldnt mind living with me and her. He want to invest in nice things and is fearful of her messing everything up. I told him that I totally understand and that im going to try my best. she is my baby, and he doesnt have to love her which till this day I dont know how any one would not love a 3 pound sweet like furbaby. But treat her right and accept her. so he knows the deal |

| I'm so glad to hear that! My husband was the one who wanted me to get my very first yorkie..... and I did. But I had one that shredded everything..... which I thought was sooooo funny and cute but my hubby didn't! And I would tell him, 'Don't expect me to yell at her cause she didn't do anything wrong.... anything below this height is hers. So if you leave it there..... it's your fault. So I guess you're the one not trained too well!' But all in good humor ofcourse! But all my yorkies now are not much for chewing but I know there are some out there that are. Make sure you keep an eye out for stuff laying around but if she's a chewer.... try to get her more bones and chew stuff so she will not want to chew on other things! Keeping her mouth busy will save a few things! |

| My hubby is not a "animal" inside the home kind of person. I had begged for an inside dog because I told him with our dtr married (though they live with us) I missed having a little thing in the house to love. I had a hole in my heart. He agreed and we started looking at small poodles. Wanted something i could carry and I have some health problems so a bigger dog was not a good thing for me. He saw an adult yorkie and had me ask questions and said I could get a yorkie. While he still did not want a "D****D" dog in the house. He is putting up with training though he grumbles a lot. BUT get this: Last night he said he kinda liked the little thing as he picked her up and hugged her. He did say it was cause she was so little as a pup and would probly deny he said it. I do know he likes to play with her and cuddle her in bed between us on the weekends. He will come around. It may take the adjusting on both sides and a well trained dog does help. Good Luck. Johnna

| Well it sounds like you guys are trying to work things out! I hope that everything turns out for the better! Make sure and remind him how important it is to put his things that he does not want chewed on up really high!

| That sounds great. I'm proud of you for standing up for yourself and your Yorkie. Compromise and putting the other ones happiness before your own, are the things that make a marriage. He evidently saw how having to make a choice was tearing you up. I agree, how can anyone NOT love a yorkie. Goodluck. |

| This is good news. You both just need to stick to it... He needs to be patient and you need to invest a little time training that little thing! Good luck. I felt so bad when I read your original email. What a terrible situation.

| I am glad that you and your BF talked things out And remember just because you have a pet does not mean you cannot have nice things. I just bought a brand new house and bedroom furniture, and I did not even think about Rocky in the proces except that he would enjoy running around in a backyard and sleep in a big comfy king size bed. Good luck and I hope everything works out. |

| Glad to hear you are going to try and work things out. My husband is my best friend, we have been married for 25 years. Best friends is always the way it should be. You should tell your boyfriend what my Mom told my husband before we got married. "Always remember, when the lady of the house is happy, everyone is happy" Yep, and it's true!!!! Good Luck to you!!

| Thank goodness you stood up to him and made sure he knew you would never sacrifise your furbaby. No matter how good our man is to us, he can never give us Yorkie kisses like our angels can! I'm so very glad you get to keep both.. Keep your puppy occupied by buying things your baby CAN chew! Good luck. |
