| I am very confused about the steel blue color. My 13 week old puppy's black body hair is changing colors at the roots. It is not light silver like on her head. It's very dark grey (I guess that's how I would describe it) with a few white hairs thrown in there. If they are going to be the appropriate blue color, does that start to come out already at this age? And would somebody post pictures of what steel blue really looks like. I am very confused of what blue is. Is is dark? When I look at the pictures in my yorkie books of the show yorkies, the light shines off their coat and it looks grey in a way. I just don't understand what the blue looks like. Both of my puppies parents were very dark and shiny on the body, I would describe it as almost black but maybe that's what blue looks like?? I had somebody tell me the other day that their yorkie was the most beautiful blue, but when I saw him in person he looks like a very light silver. I think a lot of people are confused about the color. I read the article about color by Joan Gordon, I'm still confused. I would like to be enlightened from some of you experienced owners... |

| My little Mia is IMO a pretty steel blue. Others may not agree but to me she is steel blue. She started getting very light hair on top of her head when she was around 14 weeks old, it almost looked white and I was even worried about it being "too" light. She's going to be 2 years old in July and I think she is still going thru color changes. I see her changes now mostly on her face and the top of her head. Her tan color is becoming more blonde and a richer deeper gold.

| Mia is so beautiful. I hope Sophie looks like her someday. I sort of think she will....Mia reminds me of what Sophie's mom looked like. Do you have a picture of her around 14 weeks that you could post so we can compare it? Thanks for sharing....it will be fun to find out what they will look like someday.

| Steel Blue Coat I know exactly what you mean. My Cassius coat looks as though it's changing at the roots. Sort of like a gun metal gray. Here's a photo for Cash's Dad attached below. He's also in the gallery: I hope Cassius inherits his color. Does anyone know what my odds are?

| here's a few pics of Mia when she was younger. First one was a project we did at work. We all took pictures of our pets with a book for Childrens book week she was around 13-14 weeks of age. Second pic was her ugly duckling stage :-) somewhere between 16-20 weeks . Couldn't resist my favorite picture of her cute little bum. She always peeks under the door, don't know about you guys but yorkie bums are just too cute. Last picture was taken at about 15-16 months of age. Her hair has changed since then but it shows a good flowing coat.

| Jodi, Mia is 21 months old and she is still changing. The hair on her face, top of her head and her legs are getting that darker richer gold/blond color. She has 3 new dime size spot on her head that will grow in rich gold. It almost looks like a little red pacth when it first starts coming thru the scalp after it grows about an 1/2 inch to an inch it starts laying down and you I can see how pretty it's turning. First spot she got I actually thought it was blood or a bad bruise and was fretting over it. The I finally noticed when it was growing and it wasn't her skin and it grew in lenght, it was making the prettiest streaks of rich gold in her hair. So She's still changing.
