| What is this? Does anyone else have this? Hi Everyone! Quick question here. Lily's ears have stood up since we purchased her at 3 months. About 1 month into our ownership of her (4 months), she fell off the bed. Since that time, she often "flattens" her ears when we call her name or yell or pet her head. I have never struck her, and I don't yell loud enough to hurt her ears (We live in an apartment that frowns on dog ownership, so I dont want to cause a disturbance)..... Her flattened ears make her look AFRAID -- but I know she isn't! When I get home, she jumps into my arms, and snuggles in for a nap. She sleeps with us at night, and she plays healthily -- I don't GET it. I considered taping them just to stop her from flattening them, but I don't know if that will help or hurt..... your thoughts? Thanks, - I appreciate it.

| nala's ears stood up on there on but when she gets really exicted (when we get home etc) that flatten like you described. maybe she gets excited? when she goes outside and sees the other dogs she does the same thing even though her tail isn't always waggin (but it's not tucked between her legs either) hope that helps |

| Frankie does this too, I at first thought the same as you that he seems like he's scared or something. But when he's playing with his toys me or the cats, his ears are erect. But when we come home or, tell him he's a good boy for going potty where he should he lays them back so I think it's a happy sign (or at least I hope) but I'm not sure either! I've tried seaching the internet but haven't really found the answer.. |

| ears My Lucy is 13 weeks old and the breeder taped her ears the day I took her home (she was 10 weeks old) and by that night she had gotten one ear out of the tape so I took it all off but they stayed up ever since. She flattens her ears back also she gets excited about something. Her tail will be just a wagging, ears back/flat, and she actually seems to get low to the ground, it's quite cute. I don't know how you would be able to tape them to stop them from flattening back??? I think it is just a response thing to emotions, like wagging their tail when they are excited or happy.

| My Sophia does that too. It looks cute, I think. She does it when she is real excited (sees me or the kids or something like that.) Don't worry about it. I am pretty sure it doesn't damage the ears and it would probably freak her out if you tried to make her stop.

| I think it is just part of being a yorkie. Carter does it too and I never associated it with being afraid. When my daughter comes in from school in the afternoon, his ears are flat and to the back all the while jumping up and down with excitement.

| toby flattens his ears when we yell at him and when he is running (maybe it makes him more aerodynamic )... he does it at other odd times too, i love his ears, they are so expressive, you can totally tell toby's mood by his ears |
