| Digging I am fairly new to the boards. One of the things I have noticed is that Katy's behavior seems to be the same as all the other Yorkies on this board. But, I don't see any talking about digging. Does anyone else's dig? Katy digs and buries everything. It can be outside or inside (she buries things in her blankets). |

| My yorkie digs too. I don't like her digging in my yard so I always make her stop and then I fill the holes back in. I understand she is a terrier and that's what terriers do. Although we had a mouse once and I was in the chair yelling at her to "get it" and she looking at me like "you want me to put that were? you are crazy lady." lol |

I Love Thor Donating Member | Thor buries all of his bones, but doesn't dig in the yard or anything...I think it might just be a terrier thing... |

| They dig just not in dirt. The couch, the comforter. Mellies will get a treat and dig on the carpet and place her treat in the imaginary hole and then cover it with the imaginary dirt. Mac just come right along and then takes it.

| Alife was always digging great big holes in our back garden so we got it converted to decking! Both of mine like a good old dig, we had them at the beach on sunday and they were digging holes in the sand. They were so dirty they needed a bath when we came home!

| I too have a digger..He digs on his bed, couch , our bed, reclyner and worst of all in the backyard. I can't beleive how fast he can dig a huge hole easy enough to fix but everytime he goes out I have to wash his paws and chin when he comes in. Then he pouts because i washed him and hides in his bed giving me the evil eye...LOL..

Yes both of mine take spells digging. They will come in with dirt on their noses and smell like dirt. They don't do it on a continuous basis or I would try and do something about it. I'm not sure what you can do. I've heard putting cayene pepper in the spot where they dig. Never tried it so I don't know if it would work or not. Sounds a little cruel to me not sure if I would be able to do it or not. I guess it would depend on how much digging is going on. Good Luck

| Joey isn't much of a digger, but I used to have a Husky who was determined to reach China through his daily excavation! The one thing that helped was this: Put a piece of his/her POOP in each of his/her holes. It works like a charm for them no longer digging in the same spot; unfortunately, it doesn't prevent digging new holes. What I found, though, was that he eventually got tired of starting new holes, having his progress thwarted, and gave up. As far as digging in the house, I'm no help. I used to have a ShihTzu (the 'dim bulb' that I've talked about) who would stand in my lap to dig like mad on my throat. Ouch!

| Edie has started digging outside since we moved to Arizona. She comes inside with dirt all over her face, and tracking in inside the house. The word "terrier" comes from the French "chien de terre" or "earth dog". It is in the terrier's nature to dig, so I don't try to stop Edie. I just hope she's having fun! |

| My girl digs like crazy. We have mole hills and she leaps and dives right in. She LOVES it. she gets me to flick the dirt and she chases my hands and the dirt. She is crazy. She would rather do that than catch the ball or the freezby. When it is wet she and her brother end up getting bathes. I don't know if that is worth it or not. Plus she likes to dig at your face. She stretches and puts her legs up to your face and then scratches. She loves to dig in my hair too. You are not alone.
