| House Trained...but just in MY house Does anyone else have this problem? If Yoshi goes to stay somewhere else, or hangs out somewhere else, he seems to forget that he is 99% housetrained. Howwwwww can I fix that? I took him to lab today (my boss is away) and he peed and then 5 minutes later dropped a dookster right on the floor. I need this not to happen. Suggestions! Thanks girls

| Mine did this when they were younger but now it's not a problem, so maybe they just grow out of it. |

| i think that's one common mistake for dog owners. "housebroken" in your house doesn't mean "housebroken" everywhere. this is especially true when they're indoor trained as opposed to outdoor trained. bunjee is indoor potty pad trained. at home, he knows where the potty pad is, and will go to it for potty, with or without me. at my parent's house, he's not familiar with the layout of their home, so he'll use the potty pad if he see it, but otherwise he'll just find a spot he likes and just do it. he won't go looking for a potty pad. so when i'm in someone else's home, i have a belly band on bunjee, just in case. better yet, instead of him dictating when he wants to go, i tell him when he should go and he'll do it on command. so in the case of my parent's home, as soon as we arrive, i lay down a potty in his area and tell him to "go potty". once he does, i give him praise and a treat. i monitor how much water he's drinking and how active he's being, and after 2-3 hours, i lead him to the potty pad again and tell him to "go potty". if at anytime he doesn't pee on command, then a belly band goes on and i try again in 30 mins. i keep an eye on how he's doing starting about 30 mins after he has a full meal to see if he needs to poop and keep a potty pad near by so he can see it and know where to go. the last time we were at my parents, bunjee was trying to play with the cats, running and jumping and barking at them and the cats are just watching as if he was crazy. it's been 30 mins since he ate so i had a potty pad near by. at one point he was trying to steal a toy from one of the cat's possession and i thought he was making a break for the toy, when i find him run pass the toy, and to the potty pad for a quick poop, impatiently waited for me to wipe, then back to the toy he went. my brothers, cousins, and hubby were quite amazed and i was quite proud. |

| Yoshi is outdoor trained. He also knows to go on puppy pads if they are available. He can hold his bladder for at least 8 hours at a time, so I know that is not a problem. It also didn't look like he was trying to mark. It was a full on pee and poop. My place is carpeted and the lab has none, so mayyyybe he is confused? As soon as we got him outside again he squatted and peed some more on the grass, so he definitely knows outside is where he's supposed to go. At my parent's house 2 weekends ago he went the whole time w/out a mistake, but I really dont know why he does it in some places and not others. It might have to do with all the people and excitement around, he forgets? Thats the only thing I can think of.

| Stomper does the same thing when we go to someone else's house. He is 100% potty trained at home and uses a doggy door. He is also neutered. When I take him to my sister's house, he ALWAYS pees in her house! I take him outside all the time and he still lifts and pees. I'm not sure what to do besides putting on a belly band or something.

| I have the same problem.... Pixie is pad trained but only in our house. I think she's just learned to go in those couple spots and doesn't necessarily understand that she's supposed to go on the pad. I could lock her in the tiniest bathroom with a pad at a friend's house and she'll still find the one small area that isn't covered by it to go! Fortunately, I know her potty dance. She runs around sniffing... almost in a frantic manner... She only does that when she needs to go! (She'll do it at home as well as other places). It's really subtle, my husband still can't see it.... I've just learned to watch for it and the second I can tell she needs to go, I take her outside. Then I get to stand out there for 30-45 minutes while she just stares at me like "What the heck are we doing out here?" She's not used to having to potty outside |

| I'm sorry to report that my mom's 100% trained 10 year old daschaund and my 100% trained 13 year old schnauzer both do the same thing - go potty in whatever house we are visiting.
