| Parker jumped off couch and hurt his leg Parker got up on the couch. (he's only 12wks) he then climbed onto the arm of the couch (which is much higher) and before I could get to him, he jumped off. He started yelping and favoring his front leg. He acted better in a few minutes. We inspected his leg. It doesnt appear to be broke. He is walking on it with a slight limp. Sometime if he runs too fast or jumps he yelps. Is 9:40 at night. Now I'm wondering if I should take him to an emergency vet. or wait until the morning to see how he act. I'm pretty sure its not broke, but I can tell it bother him a little. Has anyone else had this experience. I'm really worried... Thanks for your help... - Denise- |

| When Tucker was a puppy he fell on his leg and acted really hurt, but it only lasted for a little while. He finally quit playing hurt and went back to playing. I hope you baby is okay. If he doesn't seem in extreme danger and won't be moving much more tonight just keep an eye on him and see how he is in the morning. Good luck and keep us updated

| If he doesn't seem to be in a lot of pain, you can probably wait and take him to the vet in the morning. Hopefully it is not broken, but you never can really tell without an x-ray. Three weeks ago, our Gracie jumped from my husband's lap and broke her left hind leg. She just got her splint off this last Friday, and it doing well. I really hope that it's not broken, but it's better to be safe than sorry. Give Parker a hug for me. I really hope it's not broken, but if it is, he will still be OK. Take care.

| Twinkie has carelessly stumbled off the couch a few times and hurt her leg. She usually just yelps and limps for a while then gets better by the next day. Hold off until the moring to take him to the vet as sometimes they just stun themselves. If he is still limping in the morning then take him in, even if it is just a sprain it's better to be safe then sorry.

| Like everyone else said if he doesn't seem to be a lot of pain or no swelling I'm sure he'll be fine in the morning to go to the vet.

| When my little guy was a pup he would all of the sudden start favoring his right front let. but a few minutes later he would act fine. I called my vet the 2nd time it happened and she said it was possible is growth plate hadn't closed yet and was slipping out of place. She told me just to rub it and that would help it back in. We've had no problems since his growth plate closed. Also these little pups like lots of attention so I would scoop him up and rub his little leg and kiss and tell him it's alright. If he stills favors it after that put a call into your vet.

| I hope your baby is doing better today. Yesterday I had a similar scare with Nikko. He thinks he is an acrobat!! I was on the couch and he was on my lap with his chewy. He has this thing where he likes to fling his treats in the air. well he jumps off my lap to try to catch the chewy and spins in the air and lands on my hardwood floor on his back!! He banged his head on the floor too and I know he was shaken because when he got up he slowly dragged himself to a corner. But then he went running after the chewy he originally was trying to catch These guys think they are made of rubber.

| He may be looking better but you really should crate him for a few days. My Katia hurt her leg in early Feb and the vet said in no uncertain terms to crate her 99% of the time, only let her out to potty and eat and leave her in there. Also to give her as little room as possible in the crate. She suggested at least 10 days but we did it for a week. She said these things get worse if they are allowed to play on them. I would think a 12 week old yorkie would probably be crated anyway.
