| Anyone else's Yorkie get carsick? Hello all, When Biscuit was really little, he never got carsick. Now that he's a little older, it seems that every time we take him somewhere, he throws up in his carseat. Even if we hold him, we get thrown up on.I usually drive with the windows up, when they are down, it seems to scare him a little. I feel so bad for him when he gets sick, but he does love to come with us places and we want to bring him along. I don't want to stop taking him in the car.....Has anyone else had this problem and found a fix? Biscuit thanks you in advance for any helpful advice! |

| We are fighting this too in our 6 mo old girl who weighs 5.5 lbs. Vet suggested starting with 1/2 tsp. childrens Benedryl 30 min before traveling. No food the day of travel. Said we could increase the dose up to 2 1/2 tsp. The lowest dose didn't help her so we increased to 1 tsp. Worked wonders..made her relax and sleep easier. We head to the farm each weekend and she must make it for a 2 hr trip on Fridays and home again on Sundays. I am also taking her on very short trips during the week and making them fun with lots of treats. Hopefully she will outgrow this by 1 yr as the Vet has said, but many don't. All our dogs travel well except her..she gets violently ill. The Benedryl is working for us and doesn't leave her all drugged. There are many drugs the Vet said we could use but said the Benedryl was very gentle and to try it first. I agree, I really don't want to DRUG her on Fridays and again each Sunday....just too much for me! So we are keeping our fingers crossed this works and she outgrows this motion sickness stuff! Good luck on your baby..hope this bit of info. helped.

| Yes my Pippa used to be terribly car sick. What i did notice was she was better if she had a bed to lay in, so maybe its part anxiety too . I started to take her in car on real short journeys, like round the block, and did this until she got used to it and then made journeys a bit further until she got used to that. Now she comes everywhere with me and no travel sick.

| Bear has got sick once or twice in the car. Once we had part of the back seat folded down in our Escape(SUV) and he was able to walk around that made him do it. Usually he is in my lap if I'm not driving or in his car seat and then he is fine. We also take them out in the car as often as we can so they get used to it. |
