| Put him in a car seat that is up high enough that he can see out the window. Dont feed him for an hour before you leave to go somewhere and give him soemthing to chew on when in the car.

| Pippa used to be sick everytime i took her in the car. I started to take her on a few trips round the block and each day made the journey a bit longer to get her used to it. She comes every where with me now and no travel sick

| Same problem here. Nikko does fine for awhile but the only time I really take him on car trips is when I go to my mom's which is a 45 minute ride. He will usually start puking 20-30 minutes into the ride. I have tried everything, not feeding him (he just pukes watery fluid), the carseat (eases the fear but he still vomits) and I even bought him these homeopathic drops they sell for motion sickness. They helped a little bit but he still wound up vomiting twice the last time we traveled. Someone on here suggested in another thread to try ginger tablets. She said her vet recommended giving them half a tablet before the trip to settle their stomach. She says she bought them in Walmart. I am from NYC and we don't have Walmart around here. I have tried looking at vitamin stores but they only sell the capsules and the lady (sorry, I wish I remember her name) said they have to be tablets. Maybe you can ask your vet if the ginger tablets would help your baby.

| Welcome to YT!!!!! Can Buddy see out the window? They really like to be able to see where you are going. Princess didn't like the car when she was a puppy, but she loves it now. I took her for short rides first, and made them longer each day. Now it's great, I can take her anywhere, as long as she sits in her car seat, I'll take her. I keep water & a bowl in the trunk at all times.

| I have the same problem as Lexi Rae with one of my yorkies. He pants heavily the entire time, doesn't want to sit still because he is stressed. I would really like to have some recommendations as to what to do for him. I've tried taking him on short trips 10-15 minutes and only to places where he will have fun (i.e., PetsMart, daycare - which he absolutely loves, etc.). I did this 3-5 days/week for several months. It didn't make a difference. |

| i wonder if teejay experiences the same problem. he's never vomited in the car before, but he shivers violently everytime we do take a trip. could that be a sign of motion sickness too? |

| Fiona does the same thing, only she loves to go for car rides! Our vet said to give them about half a(I give a little less than half, and I have a big yorkie) tablet of Dramamine about 20 mins before you leave. Worked like a charm, and you can get the less drowsy kind. We had a 2 day trip (14 hrs) she did great. I have asked two separate vets to make sure this was ok, and they both suggested it, as well as her obedience school "teachers". Hope this helps! |

| two yorkies....different responses Greetings from Oklahoma My two yorkies have different responses to car rides. Max wants to see out. Maggie needs to be put in back seat as low as I can get her....the moving scenery makes her vomit. I put a sheet over every thing in the seat and just know that I will be washing it as soon as the 8 hour trip is over.....usually they get sick during the first 15 minutes or so..... Sorry I haven't found any meds that really help yet. Max and Maggie's Mom
