| Pet Health Insurance Question? How many of you have health insurance on your pets? I am thinking about getting health insurance for Teddy. I went online and found VPI Pet Insurance. Just wondering if any of you had heard of them, or if any of you can recommend a good pet insurance company. It seems that when our babys get sick it can be pretty expensive. So I figured if I have health insurance why not my Teddy too? |

| I have VPI. I think I pay like $30 a month. I have not had anything serious happen (and I hope not to) but an example of what they cover. I took Diezel to get neuroterd and he needed 5 wolf teeth pulled the total was $600. Included everything, visit, anethesia, meds and surgery. I have been told that my vet is expensive. But still the insurance only covered $85. I would look into it more then I did. |

| I have VPI as well and I have yet to receive a check. I would suggest looking for a better company perhaps...... I may after I get my reimbursement.

| Wow, and they say a check back in 2 weeks. I hate insurance companies. anyway, yeah I'd find out what that gentleman uses, and let us know!!! I'd love to switch to a better company, then I wouldn't feel used and like my money is going to a waste.

| sometimes I think that since pet insurance has not been around for very long that its just one of those things that will improve overtime. I had looked into getting it a little bit. But was never able to get any information concerning exactly what was covered. If I get it I want to make sure that it covers more than just emergency care. And I think the one that I was looking at only covered accidental injury.

| I've had VPI for my puppy since I got him, but my mom and dad have had it for a long time for their dog. They're pretty good. I had done research and didn't find anything at their price that covers as much as they do. I pay $37/month for superior with vaccination. The vaccination is an addition to the policy for shots and day-to-day stuff which is pretty good. Although it doesn't cover everything, it costs me $95 for the year and will cover over $150, so for me its worth it. It definitely helps. I will probably take it off for the second year since it won't be worth the money. In emergencies it covers up to $14000 a year and i believe $4500 per incident, minus a $50 deductible. My parents have used it several times when their poodle swallowed something or acted funny (they are crazy dog owners too ). If someone finds a better plan please post, but I was not able to find something. Hope this helps. If you need any more info feel free to PM me since I have all the policy info and several years of experience with VPI. -Natalie

| We just got VPI & have no claims experience yet so I can't help you there. None of them are tremendous in MHO but every little bit helps and we like the idea of the coverage if there were an accident... I just wanted to add that our new vet gave us a puppy packet with a brochure from the IAMS company. It had a coupon code for 2 mos. free premium on VPI. If you end up with VPI, you might ask your vet for the coupon. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have VPI and sent in over 1,500 in bills from 4 visits in one week for a couple of different conditions and they denied all of them. As soon as I get a chance I will call and dispute a couple of the conditions they won't cover. So far I do not think it's worth it. they seem to have an out for everything

| I have had VPI for 2 years and have never had any problems. The longest I have ever waited for reimbursement was 3 weeks (I fax all my claims) and when Simon had surgery last year they paid all but $300 (and it was a lot). They have also covered prescription food, flea and tick meds, vaccinations, and all medications. They also have a multi-pet discount that helps |
