Anyone breeding larger yorkies? My mother had a yorkie she got when we were living in England about 20 years ago. Maggie weighed about 10 - 12 pounds. Now that Dad has retired, she would like to get another. I know that it is the trend now for yorkies to be as tiny as possible, but is anyone breeding larger yorkies? She lives in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area of Texas, but please let me know if you know of anyone in the US producing larger yorkies. Thanks!

its funny you ask that, because one of the things i was looking for when i was searching for a yorkie was one that would be LARGER than the standard. And, wouldnt you know it? i found NO BREEDERS that had yorkies this size, the one i have now is larger, he is 9 lbs (probably going to be 10 lbs full grown) but i got lucky, the breeder told me he was going to be 6 lbs..... it was a little funny looking back, because some of the yorkies i looked at would have been bigger than standard but the breeders still insisted they were smaller (even after i informed them i wanted a larger yorkie). . . i dont think i could ever get a teeny

Bigger yorkie I have a male available that is only 7 weeks old that is already a porker! I'm sure he will be a big boy! His mama is 9 lbs and his dad is about 8 lbs. I don't have a digital camera or I would post a picture. I don't breed tiny yorkies - I feel they have too many health problems and I am no into breeding unhealthy dogs. Let me know if you are interested and I could send you some pictures.
