| Yorkies and Chihuahuas I have a 9 month old Yorkie. He is the only dog in my household. I am going to visit a friend and she wants me to bring my yorkie so she can meet him. She has a chihuahua (hope I spelled that right). So I was wondering do yorkies get along well with those dogs? I hope he is friendly with him. |

YT Addict | If it were my pup I'd keep him close until i was sure the other wasn't going to show any aggression.

| I would assume her dog is friendly since she wants to set up a "playdate". It really depends on the individual dogs. My first Yorkie wanted nothing to do with other dogs, but the one I have now loves everyone, every dog, every animal, it can get close to. That's why I will be bringing home a new baby Yorkie in a couple of weeks. I have never had two at one time so I think I am buying the baby more for him!! |

| I bet they get along great, if they both like other furkids. I have both, Poncho & Princess are best friends. You should tell her about Chihuahua Talk!!! Have fun!!!!

| Her dog is very friendly. Mine is very friendly with people too but he isn't around dogs every day so I don't know how he will react. I will keep him close to me at first and see what he does. I hope he behaves himself. |

| I think it really depends on the personality of both dogs. If your dog is around other dogs and has been socialized, I'm sure it will be fine! Best of luck.

| BE CAREFUL! Many chihuahuas are extremely possessive and jealous in guarding their people and environment. I almost got bit by one when simply talking to its owner. Good thing the lady had a solid grip on it. You never know how the other dog will react and I'd hate it if your Yorkie got attacked!!!! If you take your dog, keep it in a carrier. Julie |

| All dogs are different but from what I've seen, my husbands aunt has a teenie tiny little chi. Mind you gus is tiny (3lbs) and Gus was doubled her size. That's how tiny she is! Gus wanted to paly rgiht off the bat but Gracie wanted nothing to do with him. But after a while they were playing and running around. I would say, just keep an eye on them. Gracie is a tiny girl who can hold her own and I was scared that she was going to hurt Gus. But they ended up loving eachother. Good luck and hope they both have fun!

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Yeah, a lot depends on the personality of the dogs. It might help to have the initial meeting on neutral ground so the Chi doesn't start off being overly protective. I would definitely go through with the meeting because you want to get your guy socialized, but be prepared to intervene.

| I have a chi and a yorkie and they do great together. BUt is all depends on the dogs individual personality. Since you are going to be going to visit her, there is a chance her chi might be a bit jealous and territorial. But Im sure they will get used to each other.

| I am definitely going to bring the carrier because if the chi is too agressive then I can keep my baby in his carrier. I guess I will just have to keep a good hold on him in the beginning to see how they act with each other. He did grow up with dogs but since I have had him (3 months now) he hasn't been around other dogs. I want him to socialize with them so I will start by introducing him to the chi. I hope he is a good boy. I will let you know what happens when I visit my friend this weekend. |

| My six-month old Yorkie would love to play with any dog he could - any size! My concern with my little guy is that he is used to playing with my 21-pound Bichon. He would love to play with another little guy, but I wonder if he wouldn't be too rough (in a loving playful way, of course). Nevertheless, I wouldn't hesitate to take my Yorkie for the visit. And, if he ended up being a little too rough, he'd just be on my lap or on a leash most of the time. Carol Jean |

| I will defintely bring his leash as well so I can keep him close by just in case he is too aggressive. I am looking forward to seeing how he reacts. |
