| Fear Of Noise my little zoey is sooo fearful of loud noises such as thunderstorms and fireworks on 4th of july. she just trembles for hours. does anyone have any solutions about easing her anxieties with noise. I saw on one of the pet store webs that they have an all natural pill that helps calm them during stressful times. has anyone used such a thing? any help would be greatly appreciated to help ZOEY through those tough times.

| I had a very large dog who was fearful of lightning and would find the tiniest place he could hide his head in. Thankfully, living in El Paso we don't see much rain or lightning. She seemed fine once the lightning ceased. Sadly we just had to put her down at 14, but she never did outgrow it. I guess it wouldn't hurt trying a homeopathic remedy, but if I was you I would just comfort and hold her and put a blanket over her head. My 4 pound Yorkie on the other hand is not afraid of anything. I know when he was just a puppy I worried about the vacuum scaring him - oh no, he just hopped on top for the ride! |

| I read somewhere that during a thunderstorm you should play with the dog to distract it from the noise. It also reassures them that it is nothing to be afraid of. Whatever you do, don't sit and hold the dog as that makes them think that they are supposed to be afraid and will make them whine and shake more! It works with Mitzi, we usually run about the apartment and play ball. She doesn't mind the noise. And let me tell you.....we have thunder that SHAKES THE WHOLE HOUSE!!! The windows rattle and you can feel it in the floor! That's the bad storms of course, if anyone lives by the beach, you'll know what I mean.
