http://www.petsmart.com/media/ps/ima...large_dd13.jpg I use this small slicker brush from PetsMart. My breeder recommended it because the corners are small enough to get around their tiny little faces. Sure enough, it works!

Yeah, there are no balls at the end. It's the metal teeth.

Slicker brushes don;t have balls at the ends...it is the pin brush that sometimes have it! I personally do not like the slicker brush, it breaks hair to easily...i just stick to a pin brush and a metal comb.

My Yorkie joined my home in Feb. at the ripe old age of 10 weeks. Since then I've probably tried every brush around. From Pin to Slicker to nylon bristle. Cassius, I call him CASH literally ran fm the pin and slicker brushes and frankly I didn't blame him. The needles stuck me so I can imagine how it felt on his tender skin. My Vet recommended a Natural Boar Long Bristle brush. It's more costly than most, but CASH enjoys his daily grooming sessions so much now. Rose

| Oh...good question. I went to wallmart this weekend and they had pure boar bristle brushes for people for about $6. All the brushes i saw for dogs are, at leas, $35-$40...it would be okay to use those?

brush JMO ...Slicker brushes are not made for a long coated breed likeour Yorks. they are for poodles etc...they rip the hair and break it off. Use a metal uncovered pin head on a coat you want to grow for the ring or a perfect coat. Covered pin head is fine for a pet coat and you aren't concerned about a bit of breakage. All Systems and Vellus make wonderful brushes.

I've been using a slicker brush because that's what the groomer said to use but Brady hates it, I have to bribe her with treats to stick around. I'm definitely going to switch brushes....so, what is the consensus of the best brush? uncovered pin?

I'm a metal comb girl...recommended by my groomer as really the gentlest way of taking care of her with the least potential of damage to the coat. Maggie LOVES to be combed, which is good because we do it every day (at least once). I'm only hoping I'm so luck with her "little sister" (three more days!!!!!!). Lynne
