| Question about buying a yorkie I would like to know if it is safe(er) to purchase a yorkie on a credit card. Would you be more protected if you purchased an ill puppy, would it be possible to do a chargeback? Also, could you guys advise what you think a smaller yorkie male should cost. I paid $800 for my female and a year later the yorkies seem soooo much more expensive. thanks. Last edited by mojo; 03-27-2005 at 07:11 PM. |

| As far as a credit card goes, I have no idea. Although I've been told that 'reputable' breeders don't take cc's. I have a 'smaller' male (should be 4lbs fully grown) and I paid $1600 for him. Although he is 'show potential', has a nice pedigree and has full AKC registration. I live in Ca and haven't seen a yorkie for under $1000 here. |

| Yeah, it's really hard to find a Yorkie for under $1000 here in California. In my case, Tia's "flaws" brought the price down. My breeder accepted cash and money orders, but I guess it would be safe to pay with a cc. I'm not sure how protected you would be. Maybe call the credit card company and see if their protection plan extends to that situation?

| I agree about not knowing any breeders who take credit cards. I guess some might take PayPal , though. As for the price of a male, I would say that if you would want one of quality to use as a stud, the price could (and probably would) be pretty steep. I don't give full reg and my boys start at around $1200.00.....on the rare occasion when I have one to sell... Do you plan to use him for breeding or have you already had your female spayed and just want another "chip"? You know you can't have just one[B]... |

| would you guys believe that in north las vegas at the meadows mall. there is this pet store called meadows pets that sells thier yorkies for 2,500 because they claim that they are teacup yorkies! i was shocked! although it seemed that they took care of thier puppy's as far as keeping them clean it is so sad. i asked them where do they get thier dogs from and ofcourse he wouldn't answer my question.and this was before i got coco. so sad. i got my coco for $900 at 8wks in melpitas,ca. and the breeder told me straight out there is no such thing as a teacup yorkie. so i am not gonna charge you for one. so i guess i got lucky with my honest breeder. |

| My female is not spayed, I am planning on breeding her maybe next year. I have aspirations of becoming a (small) breeder - I dont mean small yorkies, I mean small breeding program as the yorkies are also pets and would live in my home. Bella is 5 1/2 pounds and so I would want a smaller male for her. I have found several yorkie males, but I am surprised at the price. Like I said, I paid $800 for my female and females are usually more. I was very excited to find a breeder in my own state who sold yorkies, but they were very expensive and for the money, I personally didnt find the dogs all that attractive so I need to look out of state. Unfortunately, I then have to add an additional several hundred dollars for shipping. Anybody have good experiences on puppyfind.com. I have found some beautiful puppies, but sure wish I could visit in person. I just love everybodys opinions and advise on this forum! oh, and one of the ones I fell in love with it does say takes credit cards. Last edited by mojo; 03-27-2005 at 08:55 PM. |

| My best advice to you if you are looking online for a breeder, is to make sure you run that breeder's name through multiple search engines. Usually if there are complaints (here, or other web pages) they will show up. I'd also suggest you ask here about the breeder. We have so many members now, I wouldn't be surprised if someone here knew of them.

| I agree , check with your credit card company and also check the breeder out with othe people. to make sure they are reputable. I do understand how you feel. I'm also looking for a female to breed int he future and I know it's expensive for breeders to raise good puppies but, the price $$ I live in Bonita Springs Fl ( Naples) you can not find a pupy in this are under $ 1,500 or more and if there is any I can't find them . Good luck on your search I hope you find a good quality puppy that comes from a good breeder |

| Good Breeder in MO I got Lexy from a good breeder in MO. She is small and has a beautiful baby face. The breeder will have 2 males next month. you can contact her at nthedoghouse@centurytel.net. Her name is Beth. She will ship also. Lexy was 1200.00, but I think the males will be less. Elizabeth Elizabeth Ensor |

| mojo, you asked about good experiences with puppyfind.com. My sister found her Maltese on there. She couldn't find any in our area so that is the way she chose to go. He is a wonderful, healthy dog and she got him for a good price. She spoke with the breeder many times on the phone and exchanged a lot of emails some with photos. She was worried about being scammed and the breeder was even willing to ship the puppy and let my sister pay after she received him (probably pretty rare-understandably). It is only one experience and I am sure there are bad breeders or even scam artists who list on there but for her it was a success. Also, under Breeder Talk (this site) they have a post with a link to an AKC Suspension List. Great Idea. I hope you find your puppy.
