| So sad today My husband and I tried to adopt a 1 yr. old, 6 lb, male maltese/poodle mix to be a companion for our 10 lb, 3 yr old female yorkie, Lucky. I fell in love with the dog two weeks ago, but then he had to be treated for kennel cough so we couldn't complete the adoption process right away. I called the Humane Society every few days to see how he was doing. Then, they called us on Saturday and said that if the dog introduction went well and the dog got a long well with my husband, we could finally take him home. This little dog had a face and personality to make a person melt, and my husband immediately fell in love with him too. Unfortunately, Lucky did not like him at all. The dog had just been neutered and still had raging hormones. He ran right up to Lucky, and before Lucky could sniff him, the dog began jumping all over Lucky. Lucky just tried to get away, but the dog was relentless. Then we met the trainer to get her opinion. She determined that they had at best, a 50/50 chance of ever getting along and they would never become friends. She also said that Lucky might become even more anxious and lose her sweet personality. Needless to say, we didn't get him, but I am very depressed because I had been imagining this dog as mine for two weeks. The dog was remarkably sweet and well behaved with people, and I think after his hormones wore out, he would be very sweet with other dogs. Still, we didn't want to take the chance. I really wanted a second dog, but maybe we can't have one. |

| I am sorry you couldn't get your new puppy. I know you are very disappointed, but if this is the decision you have made, you should feel it is the correct one. It would be much sadder if you brought the new dog home and disrupted your happy home. Maybe you will find another sweet baby that you can add to your family.

| Im So Sorry You got your hopes up about this lil male. But maybe it wasn't meant to be. I'm sure you will find a friend for Lucky, it just might take some time.

| Maybe a female would fit in better with your male. Both of my males just love our little female. She rules the roost at our house, but the boys don't seem to mind. I know you are disapointed about the little boy you thought you were getting, but it just wasn't meant to be. There must be an even better one waiting for you somewhere. |
