| I would put them in the closet. Most mother dogs are protective of their little ones. and with kids being around my make her nerves and stressed out. |

| I kept Zowie and her pups in my room in the back corner. She loved people to see her pups right from the start. I tried to keep the commotion down. She would smile real big and jump up and down. I had everyone pet her first. I do think I started with family (quietly, one at a time.) I wouldn't let the kids hold the pups until at least they open their eyes. Then make sure they are sitting on the floor with a soft rug in case they were to drop the pup. More important as the pups get more wiggly, teach the children to sit on the floor to hold them (if you let them). Even grown ups will drop the pups. They can easily be killed from a fall.

| Put China and the puppies in a part of the house that the children are not allowed to enter without permission. I agree - most mothers are very worried and protective of their new little pups. And, it is cruel to add to their concerns. Believe me, they have their hands full as it is - nursing and caring for all these little guys. You nieces and nephews - especially - should not be allowed to enter the room that China and her pups are in. I would let them go in (with you) and only look for a little while - until the puppies are older. This shouldn't be hard to do - you're in charge! Carol Jean |
