| My Tiny girl I just took my Yorkies to the vet a few days ago to get some ear cleaner and just for fun I had them weighed. Ruby is 1 year old and weighs 5lbs (perfect size to me and she is a little chubby so you can't feel her spine or anything). On the other hand Bella is almost 7 months and is only 3lbs She's a tiny girl and on the thin side but she eats more than Ruby does. I hate when I can feel bones (i know Yorkies are suppose to be small dogs and therefore you should feel some bones but I'v been trying to get her on the chubby side so that she'll have some padding incase she falls or bumps into anything while playing. I am surprised that she has only gained 1/2 a pound sence her 3rd shots, 3 months ago. Her mom is 6lbs and Dad is 5lbs so when i bought her the breeder said she should be 5lbs or even a bit bigger than Ruby. Bella was also the second biggest in her litter. Do you think she will hit 4lbs or even 5lbs? The vet said she's really healthy but I just feel bad for her because Ruby will play with us outside for hours but Bella has to stay inside because she gets so cold and shakes even when i bundle her all up. IMO I don't care how big or small she is because I love her so much and she makes me laugh with how spunky she is, I just feel bad because it seems that her size holds her back from doing things that Ruby or other dogs can do.

| I think she might hit 4 lbs but you just never know. I understand you wanting to add padding to those bones incase of a fall or what not, but purposely adding extra weight might be creating other health issues later on down the line. I don't think this is the right thing to do.

Or is there anything I can do to help her out size wise (like clearly i know that's kind of a silly question because there are no magic growing pills i can give here LOL) but hopefully you know what I mean.

Growing pills? That's cute! But I don't think so. I guess sometimes our precious gifts come in small packages. But yes, an extra eye on her while playing is always helpful. My Ransom is tiny and I at times worry too and am over protective moreso than I am with Schatzie being she is almost 10 lbs.

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | My Magic was 3lbs for the longest time...when never thought she would grow...even when we had her spayed at 6 months she was only 6 months...but she then slowly began to put on weight....around 10 months she finally hit 4 months (we were so excited) and now at 17 months she has finally hit tha 5lb mark!! We are so glad as we don't feel like she has to be babyed all the time.... I would wait and see if your little one is going to finish filling out so more....I would say she probably will. But I wouldn't try to add weight to her, as her frame might not be able to handle it!!

| my girl weighs 1.5lbs at 13weeks. She lost 1/2 a pound after the anal expression! So I think we're in the same boat. |

| After seeing hundreds of Yorkie pictures - all their different sizes, etc - I'm sure they aren't all built exactly the same. My little 6 month old pup (6 1/2 pounds) is very slender. But he's a good eater and is very active and healthy.... I'm sure his short hair helps make him look "lean and mean." More hair would make him look heavier. In fact - now that I'm thinking about it - the vet said, "This is one 'solid' little pup." And said he's as healthy as can be ... which he is. Carol Jean |

| When I got Josie she was 6 months old and 3 lbs, now she is 16 months and is 4 lbs. So yours might gain a little more weight. You are suppose to be able to feel a little bit of their ribs when running your fingertips on the sides of their bodies. That is healthy. If they are overweight, there are health risks involved.
