| How I introduce new dog? Our yorkie, Lucky, might be getting a friend! I am trying to adopt a one year old cute little rescued maltese/poodle mix. He is currently at the hospital being treated for kennel cough, but I think that as long as he gets along with Lucky and my husband, he will be ours when he is well. Lucky and the new dog will be introduced at the Humane Society. Lucky is used to being the center of attention and isn't particularly fond of other dogs, although she isn't aggressive either. Lucky is larger than the new dog and older too so I think she will be top dog. Any ideas on how we can make it easier on Lucky when we bring the new dog home? We really want them to be friends! |

| Certainly don't show a difference between the two. I always hold the one I already had and have the new one sitting right there beside and let them smell each other for a bit. Then I let them go and watch carefully. Giving a treat has worked great for me since both get one they are kind of on the same page then. But don't leave them alone for a long while just to be on the safe side. |
