| Microchip story and question! My husband's cousin had 2 yorkies, one full grown and a puppy. In January, someone left their front door open and the puppy went out. Well, unfortunatly when they realized, their puppy was gone. They searched for her and found nothing. They have a fenced yard so they believe someone drove by, saw her alone outside and took her. Needless to say my husbands cousin was devestated. A few weeks later, she decided to get another puppy. Now, it's March and they have pretty much accepted that they will never see their little yorie again. Until, last week, they get a phone call. Their lost puppy was microchipped and scanned in vet's office 30 minutes from their home! So they drive up to get her. They now have three yorkies (lucky them!) Now, this has made me decide that my baby NEEDS to be microchipped. I called my vet's office and they do the procedure. They actually had an appointment open for tomorrow, so I am going to go in and get it done. The woman I spoke to said it is inserted with a needle and it's a quick procedure. I am still a little nervous though! I know this is best for Esme, but I still hate to hurt her! What were your experiences with microchipping your puppies??? Thanks!

| Just curious, did your cousin ever find out where she had been those few months? Did the people who took her to the vet know that she was a lost puppy? I'm so glad she is home now. I am going to get Sophie a microchip too. thanks,

| I had Carter microchipped when he was neutered. It was a small fee -- nothing at all compared to not being able to positively identify him if he is found and brought to a shelter or vet's office. He didn't seem to mind his microchipping and I have piece of mind!

| I had Trevor microchipped when he was 3 mo. old, the same day he got his rabies shot. He did whimper when they injected the chip, but it was over faster than getting the rabies shot It's a pretty big syringe, but scalpel like sharpness. There wasn't a drop of blood, so it pretty safe. After they inject it, they get their scanner and scan to make sure it works. They give you all the paper work to send in to the site that monitors the numbers.... But be prepared to wait. They have a backlog and I just had my check clear after 4 weeks. When I called the telephone number to check the status, it says they have a back log, and it could take up to 4 weeks to have the info entered. So I was extremely careful with Trevor because if he got lost and scanned, but wasn't in the computer yet, they might not have known to contact me. Anyway, that was our experience. Simple and pretty painless. The vet fee was $45 and the fee to have it entered into the computer bank is $12.50. Cyndie Trevor's Mom |

| Archie was microchipped when we got him. It was a very quick procedure and I don't think he even feels it. Lately, he thinks that he's a big enough boy to go out to the bathroom by himself... ALSO..when you have your yorkie microchipped, please don't forget to mail your little microchip post card thingy! If you don't register, it's useless. They should use GPS to track your puppy when you have him/her microchipped. If Archie ever left, I'd like to know where he's actually been. It's a shame that the technology is only useful if someone decides to actually scan. |

| Michrochip Information! It's quick! It's about $40.00 or less in different locations/cities. But it is worth it! My Artie was micro-chipped when he got his rabies shot, he reacted more to the shot than the chip I definitly recommend it! It comes with a tag, I make sure every time we leave the house he either has his collar with his tag which has the "800 retreival number", instead of my home phone number or his harness which has the micro-chip tag with the tracking number, either peice of would ID. him....if he got lost or stolen? But if he didn't have either one on? Once he was taken to a Shelter or Vet. they would automatically scan him. God Forbid nothing ever happen to him! I would be devastated! Also since we Travel alot, I make sure I update my Information, so they can always locate me, just in case? It's very important to do that as well as Register your personal Infromation to begin with. These dogs are frequently stolen if left alone! Due to the high demand and the high price tag, it drives people to do stupid things? |

| Cocoa got the microchip at 8 weeks when we got him from the breeder. The microchip is about the size of a small rice.. shot into his neck. The whole process was over much sooner than I first imagined, and Cocoa seemed to barely notice it. He cried much more when he got his vaccine shots last weekend. |

| Esme was microchipped this morning. She yelped when it happened, but she is at home playing and running around like normal right now. I am definetly happy that I had it done, now hopefully I will never have to use it!

| Lucy was microchipped when she was spayed so I don't know if she knew too much about it! It has caused her no problems and has given us enormous piece of mind. I used to work in the RSPCA cats and dogs home in Bristol and ALL dogs and cats that were brought in were microchipped. I was with many when they were done and the reactions were no worse than with a normal injection in my experience! |
