| Are they Fighting or Playing? I'm a little unsure about the difference between fighting and playing. They chase each other , bite or nibble each others ears , jump on each other, play tug-of-war with socks, theres some growling and very rarely a yelp. Please help...when should I let them be and when should I stop them? |

| Typically when dogs play they play pretty ruff. From when they are first born and sometimes until they are much older. A Yelp will typically notify the other dog when he/she has gone too far and in a normal experience the offending dog will back off. Self-correction of sorts! "I'm no expert tho!" |

| I agree, with mine, once they yelp they tend to separate and bring the play down a notch. If they don't separate themselves after a yelp, I do it for them

| I'm having the same issue in my home right now. Hercules is almost 7 months and we just got Athena last week, she's 9 weeks. They seem to play soo rough together, but I hardly ever hear a yelp. I usually let them play. If they are in pain, they will let us know. I'll separate them every now and then if I think they might need a break for water, or something like that. Otherwise I'll just let them wear each other out!

| You should see and hear the sounds when the girls are playing . This breed of dogs can play very rough . Sometimes , there is a yap but won't take very long for hearing them growl and some bing bang . |

| Thanks , one thing I like about the fighting/playing is that they'll do it sometimes late in the evening and then sleep through the night!!! |
