Breeder Guarantees Just have a general questions, I come along with breeders that claim that the sire and damn are tested for diseases, but how come that 99.9% of breeders only offer a one year guarantee only? How comes no breeder offers a lifetime guarantee to such diseases?

Stop and think about it -- Any serious health problems or congenital defects will almost always show up during the first year of a puppy's life (especially if we get a well puppy checkup and our little guy has visited the vet a few times for shots etc. during that first year). No one can guarantee a puppy's life or health indefinitely. Too many other variables and factors enter into a dog's health as the years go by --many of which a breeder is definitely not responsible for. I think a year's health guarantee is very generous myself. Remember please - we don't have a year's (let alone lifelong) guarantee on our children's health - or our own for that matter. I think if we get a pup that we are told is healthy, appears healthy, and remains healthy the first year of its life -- we are doing just fine. My dog had health problems when she was 12 years old -- hardly a time to consider going back to the breeder - right? I didn't get a year's health guarantee with my puppy. I was told he was healthy....and he certainly appeared to be healthy to me. I took him to the vet a day or two after I got him and he got a clean bill of health. He has been back for shots a couple times, is 6 months old, and is doing just fine. He and I are on our own - from this point on - we wouldn't go back to the breeder if any problems arise. His parents are healthy - and I'm sure the breeder expected my pup to be healthy too. I wouldn't feel right holding her responsible at this point for any problems that might arise. **** My breeder would have taken the puppy back and refunded my money if the vet had found any serious health problems when I first got it. Good luck! Carol Jean

| We got our "Brie" 8 days ago from an excellent breeder. In pertinent part her guarantee reads "THIS PUPPY IS GUARANTEED FOR THE 1ST YEAR OF ITS LIFE AGAINST CONGENTIAL ANOMALITIES SUCH AS LEG PERTHES, HIP DYSPLASIA, OR LUXATING PATELLAS. THIS PUPPY HAS A LIFETIME GUARANTEE, AGAINST LIFE THREATENING CONGENTIAL ANOMALIES, SUCH AS LIVER SHUNT, OR A DEFECTIVE HEART. IF THIS PUPPY DEVELOPS SUCH A CONGENTIAL ANOMALITY, I WILL REPLACE THE PUPPY WITH A MALE/FEMALE OF LIKE VALUE, UPON THE RETURN OF SAID PUPPY. HOWEVER, IF YOU DECIDE TO KEEP THIS PUPPY, A PARTIAL REFUND WILL BE CONSIDERED ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS." The entire guarantee can be found here: http://www.amazingyorkies.com/careguide-guarantee.html Brie was shipped by air from the breeder on an 1 1/2 hour flight. We took her to the vet the same day. He stated that Brie was about the healthiest Yorkie puppy he had seen and that she obviously came from a good breeder.

I have a 13 week old named Hannah, I did not get any gaurentee because my yorkie did not come from a breeder. A girl I know has a male and female yorkie, they were both 1 1/2 and her female went into heat she was unaware and while she was at work Bomb! She gave me a health certificate and Hannah had her first two rounds of shots, thats it! But if my puppy got anything I would'nt want a new one I love her!

Hey tndefender! I got my Yorkie 4 months ago from Amazing Yorkies too. Deb Stillers was wonderful to work with and an obvious good breeder. My vet also mentioned to us at Muffin's first visit that she was extremely healthy and obviously came from a good breeder. Deb does offer one of the better health guarantees that I had seen while doing research on different breeders. It's very generous.
