| really maddd I was holding my 3 1/2 moth old yorkie and he was really hyper and he just snapped and drilled into my nose (it is ok now). And i gave him a bath the other day and he just went wild after it when he was wet. he ran in circles and growled at everyone n snapping. I was wondering if this is a phase or will i be dealing with an agression problem. Whta should I do? |

| my little guy did this too. He get excited and try to lick your face but he'd really bite instead and it does hurt. We would just hold him away from our face and say no be nice lick nice and then when he would we'd praise him. He still does it sometimes when he gets real excited, but not much anymore. And My Logan acts exactly the same after bath except he doesn't snap, but it's harder than all get out to get ahold of him. We let him do his little after bath ritual, but you may wanna nip this in the bud since he's snapping. i would rub him with a towell this made Logan mad and tell him no if he tries to bite at you if he stands there nice say good boy and treat. He'll probably never like, but you are the boss and he has to let you do it.

| The minute your pup displays behavior you don't approve of (like nipping at your nose) give a firm no and stop playing with him. The next time (hopefully soon after) you see him doing something good, give praise and give a treat. Possibly giving a training exersize I like to call "submissive puppy" by placing him on his back and holding firmly until he stops squirming. Once he stops squirming, softly give him praise and affection. It kinda sounds like he is trying to dominate and play too rough. He just needs to be taught manners. Regarding the rowdy behavior after his bath he just might be overly excited. Again, follow with commands and hold him firmly until he stops squirming and calms down. Always follow w/ praise and affection. Only reward the good stuff...Praise praise praise. Good luck. They don't understand our emotions of getting mad etc. Your fur baby wants to please you and make you happy. He is just needing some guideness on knowing what is allowed and not. Hope it gets better, he is still very very young.

| As far as the first incident with your nose (OUCH!), it sounds like an accident. Are there other times that your pup growls and snaps?

| I dont think your pup wanted to hurt you Both Lady and Jess did this when they were little (the nose biting thing) and it was because they were SOOOO exited when they started licking that they would accidently nip my nose or chin etc! lol.It happens sometimes now too, especially after Iv been out. When I get back and sit down,Jess pounces on me and between all the licking and jumping and spinning around,I always end up getting nipped!! Pushing her away only makes her more exited so I just let her finish lol. The going crazy after a bath/shower is normal too Mine both go bonkers and start jumping, barking, growling, rolling, and of course rubbing them selfs against EVERYTHING whilst they do this..Its actually quite funny |

| Mitzi got me a beauty last night!! She gets so excited sometimes. She had been outside with me and we had been playing ball. I'd come inside and left her to carry on playing like a crazy fool. She sprints up and down the whole appartment, sliding along the floor. She's seems to love the sliding part! LOL Anyway, I was sat on the bed, talking to my partner who was standing at the dressing table, when Mitzi flew onto the bed (Which she can't normally do because the bed is still too high for her, she has a step!). She ran right up my chest and bit me on the nose, she left a lovely scratch mark on my cheek too! This was all her "playing" time. She doesn't have a clue that she hurts sometimes. But she gets dealt with firmly and she is slowly improving. If I'm learning anything with her, it's that getting her to behave with manners takes alot of patience and time. She's a good girl for the most part. I know she'll get there one day! Just keep at it is my advice. They are intelligent dogs, and one day we'll both have perfect little angels! |
