How Do You ........... Decide whether somebody is a good person or not to take a puppy? I mean how do you decide whether they will take good care of it or not? Do you deliver the pup to their home, do you call references?? ect..As you all know I have 4 blond lab puppies and they are still too young to get rid of but my husband was teasing me that im going to screen and probably go overboard.. He wants them to go to a really good home too but im really anal about it. any suggetions??

There is nothing wrong with asking alot of questions when place your babies..If you have a bad gut feeling about the person listen to it..If I catch someone in a lie they would not get one of my babies..ask what Vet they use and ask if it is ok to call and check them out. I would ask how many animal they have and if they have ever gotten rid of any and why? Where the dog will be sleeping-living ..House,Pen,Cage..etc..good luck in finding them good forever homes...Sherry

You don't judge. Unfortunately we don't live in a world with just good people and it's impossible to judge by appearence or what other has. my husband and i are debating about his Collie which is 3 years old and does not goes well with my little Laila Yorkie, so, I put clear things to him. If Cleo goes to someone he could take her to the new owner or just leave them caming and picking her up. He didn't like none of what i said first because he is not really wanting to give her away. But he knows we do have some problems they both don't do well together. So... Laila is really our type of life, home dog and more a cuddle then working dog and Cleo does need more exercises and be working all the time. We always want the best for our dogs especially if you already have seem them growing up or even as puppy, because we all know that are there many people just mistreating dogs. So, I suggest to you the same to my husband. If you think is better to see where they will live ok, otherwise just leave the people caming and see if they do talk about them and what they can offer to them as much as you could ,that's what more important. Don't judge by appearence sometimes the people with so little are the good ones which will give much more love to them than someone which contracts a babysitter to be there all the time. And I do think conections with where they will live is not good. Just think they are in good hands that's how it works if you really have to sell or give them away. Otherwise you won't be able to do it at all. think what you really want not just for yourself but what's is better to them too!!

At the end they are your puppies and you asked for advice so i tried to help, as you said you fell confortable asking question to people great, but you have to remember many people are put off from what owners says and it may be difficult to sell if you treat them like you are the judge and will decide who will take them or not at the end they are paying you too and if they could buy it means they can give to the puppy a good life. I assume i fell for Cleo too,but at the end if the person shows me loving and really sees her as a companion and can give her much more than we can that's to make me happy and Her. Good luck to your puppies and hopefully you will be the happier to know when they are safe.
