| Hi We're new! We live in Colorado. I have a 4 year old English Bulldog and just a few days before Christmas my best friend, my (almost)10 year old pug passed away. We've been heartbroken for weeks now. This past week something happened though!! We knew of someone (through someone else) who had a litter of yorkies. We watched the pictures as the little puppies grew. One of them, the little runt, captured our hearts, but at the time we were dealing with my pugs death and grieving. The, umm, "breeder" was having a hard time placing the little runt because he cried about everything. Well, crying isn't the best word. He would SCREAM if anyone strange touched him. Because of this they couldn't place him and were going to put him down. I went and checked him out and sure enough, it took more than an hour before I could touch him without him screaming. I asked to take him home overnight and take him into my vet the next day to check for any kind of physical problems. They agreed! My vet looked him over and said that physically he looks good, he's just not socialized at all. Poor little guy. We knew that we had our work cut out for us, but we couldn't bear to think that they would put this little guy down!! So, in the end we adopted this little yorkie and he is very quickly worming his way into our hearts! We've named him "Frogknot" which sounds unusual, I know, I know!! We've always named after locations (My English Bulldog is named after Bailey CO) and since this guy is so small (3.0 lbs - 12 weeks old) we decided to search out a small town to name him after. Frogknot comes from a little town northeast of Dallas Texas. They spell it "Frognot" we added a k because we liked the way it looked! His full name is Sir Frogknot of Last Chance. Last Chance is a ghost town in Colorado and also since we were his last chance we thought it worked great for us! We call him frog for short! http://static.flickr.com/36/94781338_ac949b162d.jpg Bailey and Frog meeting for the first time http://static.flickr.com/33/93425905_e289aeeafc.jpg Our little guy, Frog |

| That is such a sweet story, but sad to know that they would just put him to sleep for that, poor guy. He's lucky you found him! Welcome to Yorkietalk, you'll find tons of great information here.

| I'm already breaking all of the usual rules!! lol So, after one night of little Frog "sleeping" in a kennel (none of us slept over all that screaming) Frog started to sleep with Bailey and I. He has done fantastic! He wakes me up around 3:30 - 4:00am and I put him on his little puppy pad. He does his business and we head back to bed. He wakes up when the alarm gets us up. He's doing really good at using the puppy pads! It's been ten years since I've had a puppy! I've forgotten so much! I got my pug at 8 weeks old. Bailey was a rescue so I didn't have any of this little baby puppy stuff with her. When we were at the doctor's office I was laughing with my vet because I had told him that I was looking for another rescue. In the door I walk with this little 12 week old yorkie, and after talking about little Frog, our vet said, "Congratulations, You've found yourself a little rescue!") I was laughing cause the last thing I wanted was a puppy. I had been telling him that puppies can always find a home, I want someone that can't... Well, one thing I know for sure... Frog could not find a home!!! He has now though! Thanks for the great welcome! We're looking forward to posting here! We have lots of pictures of Frog and Bailey out on Bailey's blog. Check it out if you have a chance! The link is in our signature line. |

| One quick question. I see that so many yorkies have their hair pulled back on the top of their heads. What do people normally do with boy dogs? I'm sure that Frog won't appreciate it if I tie his hair up in a pretty bow. What do most people do with boys? I can't wait to see what color he ends up being. I love this little guy!! |

| If you want to keep his top knot hair long, you can either buy bands in boy colors or buy boy bows for those special occasions. Or you can just cut it. And here is a link to a lady who makes all kinds of bows: http://stores.ebay.com/Vals-Diva-Dos She can do whatever kind of bow you want. You can probably email her and ask if you can buy some of the pony tail elastic bands as well.
