| Would you buy? With yorkies high in demand and many people desperate for a yorkie would you ever get a yorkie because it is a yorkie even though it is a badly bred yorkie? Even if the price is cheap but they probably are healthy puppies? The reason why I asked it is because my sister went to see female yorkie puppy. Before she went, I told her to look at the parents. I told her it is hard to tell what a puppy will grow up to be like and the best indication is its parents. The breeder said the parents are 5lbs(female) and 4lbs(male). The yorkies didn't have paper and she wanted $450 for her. So she gets there and sees the mother is as big as my 12lbs yorkie with floppy ears and the hair on her face did still had a lot of black on it. The father was smaller and reminder her a lot of a silky than a yorkie and is definitely not 4lbs(My sister brought her 5lbs yorkie to compare and both of those dogs were a lot bigger than hers). Despite their apparents both parents and puppy look healthy and well taken care of. Next she asked about the puppies( there were 2 in the litter). She asked if their dewclaws removed and tails docked. The breeder reponded that the tails are naturally short and since both parents do not have dewclaws the puppies didin't have any. I know she has been looking for a girl forever and was really excited when she found this person had a girl for sale. She didn't even care if it did or didn't have paper. If you were in her shoe, would you have gotten a female yorkie puppy from that breeder? |

| No way. I would not deal with anyone that lies. Tell your sister all good things come to those who wait. You get what you pay for. |

| No Way! Wow, from everything that you just said, it sounds like the "breeder" is willing to say anything to get those pups out of the door. She obviously lied about the weights of the parents and the whole thing about the tails being naturally short and them just not having dew claws is outrageous! If she is willing to lie about things that you can very easily catch her on, just think of the health problems she may be hiding! I would definitely suggest that your sister hold off. I know that can be hard when you really want a puppy, but it is so much better to wait and get a healthy pup from a breeder that you trust!

| Hmm.... i dont think i would fall for the this breeder's puppies, she's not honest, she tells your sister that because the parents dont have dew claws, the pups are born without? (thats a joke) and the tails are naturally LONG - dont let this "breeder" take your sister for a ride! Even a cheap yorkie can be beautiful and breed correctly.

| Nope I wouldnt if she was dishonest about the weight she could be dishonest about other things. Weight is also very important to me I have one that is over the standard that the breeder told me would be 6 lbs. Now I know better and never again.

| I don't think the breeder was lying. I think it was the first time she bred those dogs. My impression is that she didn't not know any better. I think she got 2 yorkies and put them together to make puppies. I don't think she realize what is involves in breeding a yorkie and that the puppy's tail and dewclaw are removed at 4 days old. My sister didn't buy the puppy but have the feeling that someone is going to get them without looking at the parents (or do their research well enough to know that the parents are bad representation of their breed). |

| How could she not know their weights? Haven't the parents been to a vet? |

| I don't want to judge these people, but to me, it sounds like they're very uneducated about the breed. Ultimately, it's your sister's decision...You said the yorkies looked healthy and well taken care of, but then again, they're not breed standard and it's their first time breeding them. Who knows what their intentions are...Sorry I'm not much help! hehe

That's the problem! You just don't get two pups, and start breeding. There is so much research, it could very well take someone years to understand it all. I feel sorry for anyone who gets her pups. I'm sure there was no testing done, back round history or health check to make sure it was safe for the female. I think it's sad! Breeding should be left up to the Breeders who care and love the breed. Not to someone who see's $$$$$$. I'm sure glad your sister passed on these furbabies. Good things come to those who wait. I'm sure there is a furbaby out there for her. I hope she finds a healthy one soon.

WHAT????? What on earth is she smoking???? Surely, her elevator doesn't go all the way up to the top or she's just trying to take your sister for dumb! Would I spend $450 on a yorkie who's breeder is stupid? No, I would not. I'd save the $450 and save a little more and get a better one from a breeder that knows something!

| nope...and why is it really hard to get a yorkie. I had four litters to choose from. I did pay a pretty penny. Rates are 1500-2100 here in Toronto. |

| No way I would feel really bad for the baby and would want to take it just to get it away from the breeder, but I would not buy it. If the breeder doesn't know about dew claws and docking of tails (the simple general stuff), what else has she missed along the way???
